    Default Personal weight accountability thread

Figured I may as well add this here. I'm doing it on another forum as well.

We've been on southbeach for about a month now. I weigh in daily, but track my official loss on saturdays.

When I started, my scale read "Err" - which I think really meant, "OH GOD! OH GOD! THE PAIN! MAKE IT STOP IT HURTS!!!"

By the end of the first week, it stopped screaming in pain and read 305. That was on Sat, June 28th, 2008.

On Sat, Aug 2, 2008, the weight was 288. So - net loss to date, 18 pounds. Been averaging 3 a week but last week was a 0 loss week because we had several cases of exposure to menus out of our control (and we ate at Ihop )

Will continue adding to this thread each Saturday.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Right now our excercise regime is DIY.

Low Impact, light aerobic = painting walls and ceilings
Resistance training = hauling 5 gallon tubs of spackle, paint, primer, old lumber and tools up and down a flight of steps

Our workouts vary from 1.5-2.5 hrs 3-4 times a week with extended workouts Saturdays and Sundays of 5-7 hours.

WTG Greebo Keep up the 'good work' so to speak...

Sounds like you're gonna be a mere shadow of the man you once were before long. (and you'll have so much more energy too )

    Well done.

What has been the most challenging for you on the South Beach diet? I did it a few years ago but had to stop when I was having stomach trouble. I think it was my gallbladder that was already having issues, and the added fats were hurting me. I would have kept going if it hadn't been for that though.

I've been buying 2% and part skim cheeses. The meat cuts have mostly been frugal purchases and we try to balance the fattier choices (yeah, i'm a sucker for Johnsonville Brats! LOL) with lean chicken or turkey. I am starting to boil my ground meats instead of browning them in the pan especially for the ground turkey in a tube.

I find that when I am busier during the days then I don't have as many meals planned so we don't always get the veggies needed to balance out our meals. I know I have them in the fridge but some evenings I just don't feel like going thru the hassle.

This week we are really trying to start watching our portions. We've been eating less overall but in reviewing the book, we still eat too much at each meal.

I'm very happy with the program so far. I like that it has eliminated refined products (white flour and sugar) and limits natural sugars as well. It is a more balanced way of eating and our fiber intake has increased with the inclusion of legumes and more fresh veggies. Keeping the glycemic index in mind also encourages well rounded meals of complex starches, veggies and proteins.

I hit the 18 pound loss this morning and I'm happy. I hope that I can stay at this for the rest of the week. I don't want to lose the weight too quickly and wear a sagging Ceashels suit for the next 10 years. Ewww!

A pancake place. We had a friend helping us with the apartment renovations, we took him out to lunch, we ate at Ihop, and temptation was too much for me after a month of resisting. I had pancakes with LOTS Of syrup.

    Bad math last week. 305-288 = 17.

    Weight this week: 286
    Loss: 2 lbs
    Net Loss: 19 lbs

Yesterday I weighed in at 285 ("official" 20 lb mark) but I had too much bratwurst last night at dinner. Oh well - saturday weigh in is the official weigh in so...19 it is.
