Daily vitamin(s)?
What do you take daily? I really need to find a good calcium supplement since I am lactose intolerant and need to keep my iron levels up too since I've experienced anemia in the past too.

Michelle, Our family takes the Ionic Fizz Calcium Plus. It is a powdered form and since it is Ionic, it really absorbs into the bodies cells. The smaller the partical, the easier it is to absorb. The It also has your B's in it for energy and to help keep inflammation at bay. It has Vit C, Zinc and silica and trace minerals too. And it has your magnesium and Vit D.
Two of the best plant sources to keep your iron levels up are spirulina and plenty of dark leafy green, especially spinach.Last edited by COUNTRYBUMPKIN; 08-08-2008 at 07:08 AM.

I use the GNC Women's Max Nutrition. It's powdered, and I mix it with milk (but it is fine with water, too). I like it because it has all the recommended items for women, but also includes extras like cranberry extract, fiber, etc. Things that I would have to take an extra pill for if I took a regular vitamin supplement.

This is a good question.
I take a good calcium with magnesium for my hysterectomy-induced-post-menopausal bones.
I also take a swallow of a liqiud iron (Floraidx) every day, and a potasium suppl. I scare doctors with my low iron and potasium levels.....they've run every test imaginable and the results are that I just "run low". I also take a womens multiple from Nature Plus. However, sometimes I have to pull back on the multiple. I find that I struggle with painful gums and mouth sores regularly. It occured to me that I must be overloading on a vitamin or mineral, so I stopped my multiple and wa-la, everything cleared up. I started again and the gum pain and sores came back....stopped, and they went away. hmmmmm, maybe I should just say I don;t take that anymore.....................
Wow! That was a rambling answer, eh?

We take no vitamins here. After seeing how many vitamins are added into everday foods and how vitamin over dose is actually bad for you we have decided to go with the natural vitamin choices. Colorful veggies, fish, nuts, ect.

My grandparents took vitamins and supplements every day and lived to be close to 100. Of course, other factors have to be considered, but I think they were on to something with the vitamins. (and they ate organically from farm produce, and had healthy habits and lifestyle).
So I follow in their footsteps. I take a multi vitamin for seniors, Vitamin D and E and C, glucosamine chondroitin (sp?), a low dose aspirin, calcium, an I Cap (for healthy eyes), and fish oil.
My doctor told me to take the D, E, C, aspirin, and fish oil. My optomitrist told me to take the I Cap and fish oil. And another doc suggested the glucosamine/chondroitin. The optomitrist also suggested that I eat a large serving of deep greens each day, preferably spinach, to help ward off macular degeneration (which runs in my mother's family).
I do not wear glasses or contacts, am a few pounds over my desired weight, but still in my normal weight range, am rarely sick, and very active. So are all these doing me any good? Well, I don't know. And I don't want to stop to find out! My doctor told me that I am in very good shape for my age (whatever that means..... LOL).
I get everything at Walmart. Oh yes, the calcium has, um..... citrate or something like that with it. Anyway, it is to help the calcium dissolve better. That was a doctor recommendation, also.Last edited by forHISglory; 08-20-2008 at 10:11 PM.
