In my opinion, another victim of the cancer Industry.

I just finished reading her interview on good morning america. She did that because her mother had breast cancer .Her mother also carried a gene which can cause ovarian cancer.I believe when your mother has had this disease this is the best option.I don't believe this can be cured by diet.

So, curious - what caused cancer back when we had cancer but not processed foods?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I believe in nutrition and alternative healing. I also believe in science. I don't think the two have to be independent of each other when one is making life and death decisions. I searched high and low to find a doctor who supported the fact that I also value the opinions of my nutritionist and reflexologist. They also respect my doctor. I think my healthcare is balanced and more effective than any of them could provide on their own.
I think the real tragedy of this article is the portrayal that a woman who loses her breasts has given up part of her identity and femininity. Women should be most concerned about effective treatment that has the most minimal risk possible for their situation, not with how their bodies will look or if they will still be feminine after they are healed. After the body is cancer free then women can make decisions about their looks but the idea that this should be part of the decision making process while still sick is apalling.
I don't remember ever reading an article about men losing their identity after surgery for cancer... he!! Lance Armstrong is a national hero and athlete d'jour... no one questions if he has lost his identity or his masculinity along with his testicle. When the media does stories about alternative therapies they should stick to the medical facts and drop the sexist front hidden behind a mask fo concern.

What about all those women who go the "natural" diet way and still die of breast cancer? Glad your way of eating works for you and wish you good health but I believe Christina made a choice that gives her peace of mind and believe she researched it well before hand.
She made the choice the "Cancer Industry" didn't strap her to a gurney and make her do this.
I wish her my best as I know you do too.
I think a combo of eating well, excercise, conventional medicine, holistic medicine and prayer/meditation if your into that is what helps keep us well.Last edited by Darlene; 08-19-2008 at 04:13 PM.

I feel like she did what she felt was best for her. Deciding to have this type of surgery is not something one would take lightly. I feel confident she gave this a great deal of thought and weighed all of her options before making this decision.
I was reading another article on her this afternoon. I was so happy to read that she has kept her sense of humor and a positive, upbeat attitude through it all.DD (19)

I figured this would come up here...Wow. the article claims to KNOW what kind of deficiency she had and what would cure her. Hmph....that's a pretty big leap without ever having even spoken to her! And claiming she was *maimed* by surgeons? Perhaps they should ask her how SHE feels about her body and not make such assumptions. That headline sounds like something out of the National Enquirer. It's a little tiring to be branded a babbling idiot if one doesn't agree with the self appointed experts who write these articles and make these claims of *cures*. She's an intelligent adult who wasn't coereced by anyone to do anything. I think these constant claims and opinions should be in the *opinions* forums since this is, in fact, someone else's opinion on this subject.

I have a friend , only 38 with 3 young children , she discovered a very small lump a few months back , went for tests and it was discovered that it was a very aggressive cancer , she had a mastectomy , chemo and is awaiting radiotherapy .
If i had a family history of breast cancer i wouldnt think twice about having a mastectomy .

Good question, Greebo! Perhaps emotions play a role in cancer development. And I do know that a very acidic ph plays a huge role in it's development. Anyone who eat's a diet that is high in meat, cheese and milk consumption and very few alkalinizing fruits and veggies is more prone to cancer developing. So you can still eat a whole food diet and if it is not the proper ratio of acidic vs alkaline to control your ph, you can develop cancer.

My family is loaded with cancer cases, so I guess I do carry the genes, but I do know that I will never develop cancer because I have the ability to control my genes with the right nutrients. this is something that most fail to realize. cancer does not scare me anymore.
daisymay, My prayers are with your dear friend and her family. I hope she can beat this!

I'm afraid you are woefully misguided , but if it makes you feel secure so be it
