    Question ? for COUNTRYBUMPKIN

Do your husband and family eat the way you do?

I have my dh eating MUCH better (and feeling better!), but I know he won't change some of his habits.

BTW--I have been doing a fruit/greens smoothie in the morning and shepherd's salad for lunch (or something equally as healthy), and for dinner----maybe a bite or two of chicken or seafood (I make for dh), occasionally a cooked veggie, and lots of raw salads or fruit.

I was (and am) feeling great! Then I had a couple of days that made it hard to eat all of the fruits and vegetables. I made fairly good choices, but BOY did I feel lousy! It took a few days fo eating well again, to bring me back to feeling well. Yikes! Ugh. My head was clousy, my body was tired, I felt bloated and miserable. I will be sure to find a way to bring along things I can eat next time.

    What's a shepherd's salad?

Cheryl, For the most part, yes, the entire family eats very healthy, but dh and I eat far more raw food meals than the dd's do. But my dd that is married and had cancer eats almost 100% raw too. My two other dd's eat about 50% raw. I am 60 to 80% for the summer, but am working now on going back to the 80 to 100% range. I too have noticed that I do not feel as well on the 60 to 80% range and so has dh. I feel much less energy and mental fatigue and sleepless on some nights. So it's best to go back to my higher raw. But I am working on it gradually or I might set myself up for failure. I have found it very helpful to pack all of my raw food/meals in a nice cooler if I am traveling for a day or several.

I didn't know you had 3 daughters, I thought it was 2! Good for you, getting your family to eat so much raw!

That's hard to get dh and the boys to do, especially when they are playing a sport or running a lot. They DO all enjoy salads and fruit though, and I pile it on.

I've probably got dh right now at 50%, but believe me, that's a LOT better than he's ever been.

Nishu--it's a salad I read about on one of the raw food sites.

    The main things are--

    Tomatoes, cut up in cubes
    cucumbers, cut same
Peppers (green or red bell type) cut up
and Onion (I like red onion or as my dh calls it --purple)

then olive oil and vinegar on it, and you can salt and pepper too if you want to.

Sometimes I add other things to it, if I need to use them up.
