    Default daily meds

I have been taking the same meds for almost 4 years. One of them is Tramadol (Ultram). I got my script filled last week and the directions are always the same and the milligrams are the same also. I took the two and within an hour I was flying high. Never had that happen before. Ok I figured maybe I was getting the flu (sounded good at the time) or something. I only take them as needed and believe me those two took care of the pain until today so I took one this time. Same thing just not as bad. Anyone else ever have this happen? I even made sure to eat before I took them. My dh also takes them so he tried mine and they didn't bother him.

I started Tramadol recently for back pain I just take it when needed the first few times I took it I was fine but then I started getting real dizzy and weak so I cut back to only 1 at a time now I'm back to 2 at a time and I'm fine.Maybe it was interacting with some of the other meds or food???.
If you have been on the meds for a while without reactions I think you need to go speak with the pharmacist perhaps they made an error in your dose, usually with pain meds your tolerance increases and they don't work as well over time not the other way around

I agree, I would talk to the pharmacist. I have been on fiorecet for chronic pain for 12 years and my tolerance has definately increased.

first, talk to your GP or Pharmacist... pronto!

See if the dose is too strong... it IS an opioid and can cause that "flying high" feeling.
Could be there's a different filler that your body metabolizes the Med faster...

Is this an extended release pill?
you dont HAVE to take this pill w/food - as the recommendation says w/or w/out food as needed.
are you taking any herbs? this could affect the meds.
are you allergic to any foods?

    lotsa things to consider.

If your Pharmacist is unable to help you... get some bloodwork done at your GP... they should be able to determine what's going on.

    Good luck!!!

I take Percocet for chronic pain on an as needed basis. If I can actually make it a couple of weeks without having to take one, then it's not uncommon for me to feel a little a little high when I do have to take it. I really noticed it when I first started taking it, but it's not so bad now. While my doctors were trying to find a diagnosis for me, I did take Tramadol for a very short time. I'm not sure that I remember feeling high from that drug, but I sure do remember the itching. It got to the point that I had to stop taking it because it was so bad.

Tramadol shouldn't have that affect on you. You should talk with your pharmacist and bring your pills with you ASAP to make sure they didn't give you the wrong thing. This has certainly been known to happen. Tramadol isn't that strong of a medication as far as pain medications go. In fact I've never heard of anyone flying high at any time with Tramadol. It isn't even a true opioid. Good luck with it!

This just reminded me of an article I read about phony pharmaceuticals - not the pharmacist's fault but wholesale companies mixing in bogus pills with real ones - I'd have it checked out and make sure that the pills ARE what they say they are. Ask the pharmacy if they can do that.
