Please keep me in
your thoughts! Due to diabetes I have horrid toe problems. I know it sounds stupid, but it really is a huge problem. I am on my way to the doctor today to have all 10 toe-nails pulled off and the nail beds killed so the nails won't grow back. They are so infected that it hurts to have the bed covers touch them.
Toes are so full of nerve endings that they really hurt when they are bad, and needless to say mine are. Just wanted to ask that you keep me in your thoughts and prayers (for those that do prayer!) The doctor wanted to put me out to do it, but me being like I am said NO WAY. Just numb them up and do it! So I will be off at 9 this morning, and I am so hoping this does the trick to get them to stop hurting. All kinds of foot problems go along with diabetes, please if you have diabetes do the daily foot checks! They can save your feet, and your life!

Sending lots of thoughts & prayers!!
Side note, my 16yo dd has to have the same thing done with her big toes on both feet. She keeps getting ingrown toenails that get wickedly infected. She's had her toenails partially removed at least a half a dozen times in the last year. Most recently, Tuesday! We go back after Thanksgiving to have them treated so they won't grow back this time.
I hope you heal quickly!

I hope everything goes well for you. Take care of those tootsies!

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

So sorry to hear about this. I know first hand how difficult diabetic feet can be. I was in a cast a couple of weeks ago due to an ulcer on my toe. I am still healing and going back to the wound doctor for weekly checks until it totally heals. Also, if they recommend diabetic shoes, you should get them. I was against it at first since I thought they were so ugly. However, they now have so many different styles and cute options to choose from. I was given a huge catalog to pick out the ones I wanted.
Take care of yourself. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.DD (19)

Thank you all so much, I can't tell you how nice it is to have your friendship, thoughts and prayers!
Well its done, and I have to admit last night was killer painful with my left foot. I told my DH it was like you see on cartoon when someone hits their thumb and it grows huge and pulses......that is what my left foot felt like, the right one isn't so bad, but it wasn't as infected. The doctor said "most people wouldn't have this done on more than three toes at a time without being put out for it!" But I am one of those that wants to know what they are doing to me, so I just sit it watch.
YankeeMom, they treated mine also, no more toenails......they should never grow back now. They use an acid to kill the nail bed, and while numb you don't feel it. But wow, last night I could tell I had a burn. I know how badly toe problems hurt, so I think your doing the right thing so your daughter don't have to deal with those problems anymore!! Its worth getting rid of them when they are bad.
Neeley, thanks for the heads up on the shoes, I will check them out. Anything that might help is well worth it. I hope your ulcer is healing and doing ok, I know how nasty they are as I seem prone to them on my ankle.
Thanks again, it means a lot to me.

I'm glad it all went without a hitch. In a couple of days, hopefully, you'll be feeling better, and it will have been worth it!
I am like you, in that I have to watch what is being done. I freak nurses out because I watch while they insert needles to draw blood. Have the time, they ask me if I'm okay, because I'm watching so intently.
I have even asked to have a mirror when I was having my wisdom teeth removed!
But "TMI" regarding the procedure!
Now, even MY toes hurt!!
