Default Is it possible? (shingles again)

to get shingles again so soon.

I finished my anti-viral meds a week ago today. Yesterday I had WICKED pain in my right ear/side of my face. I thought it was a toothache, but by the end of the night I realized it was really in my ear and my jaw joint that hurt.

This morning, I have almost no pain in my face (yay!) but now the right side of my face feels "tingly" and numb. Is it worth it to go back into the dr? Or am I being paranoid?

I hate to say, it is possible for them to reoccur so soon. My dad seemed to have shingles for almost two months. He would get better then, bam, have them come on again. He even had to go to a pain management clinic.

I truly hope they aren't coming back, but I think I would go to the Dr.'s just to make sure.

    Good Luck!

Like everyone else has stated go and get them checked out. I had them twice so far and everytime I am stressed, upset and or sick I get the tingly feeling in the spots where I broke out. you may have them feelings also. Never miss around with them if you think that they are coming back GO TO THE DOCTORS! There is no since of being in pain.

What was confusing to me is the tingly/numbness wasn't in the same place as the first time. The first time it was on my ribcage (front & back). This time it's on the side of my face.

I called the dr. He said it's possible, but not likely. It's impossible to tell until/unless the rash shows up. So he called me in a prescription for "just in case" a rash shows up over the weekend. Then I'm to go in on Monday if it does show up over the weekend.

So far, no rash...I'm crossing my fingers. I *definitely* don't want that on my face!!

Hoping you feel better soon...Shingles are wretched, and I hate to hear that anyone is suffering with them - - however, despite your Doc's 'not likely' advisement, I have experienced reoccurences soon after being pronounced 'cured'.

    Rest well,
    Anna

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this again. Please get enough rest and give your body the energy it needs to get better!

Not sure about the tingling/numbness, but have you ever had TMJ problems--that could explain the pain in that part of the face. Have you eaten anything super crunchy that would cause jaw pain?
