RX costs
I just went down and filled my DH Lipitor RX and just about fell over when they asked for $123 instead of the $30. The amount his insurance covers has really changed. I am thankful he has a job and that some of the cost was covered, $23, but this was totally unexpected and a big hit to the budget. Just needed to whine.

I made sure that we got DH on a health plan through his work where his co-pay for prescription drugs was comparable. We pay $10 per prescription and it's helped us big time. It sucked having to pay full price before we got on it, though, so I feel for ya.

Talk to your dr., there are older drugs that are not that much different than the new ones like Lipitor that do the same thing. Maybe he can switch him onto one of the $4 Rx's at Walmart or some other stores are doing that as well.

I so understand your pain. We just filled 5 RX's and to our shock it came to 220. dollars. We have to pay out of pocket until the deductible is met, and then we only pay 10%, I so wasn't ready for this. I had forgotten that we start all over in the new year! It sure is hard to budget for this because the price varies, you never really can be sure how much they will pay on each RX until you get it paid.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

I second that checking on the lesser expensive RX's. Go to WalMart, Kmart, and WalGreens and get their sheets that list the meds on their $4 plans. Take the sheet to his doctor and see which ones he can trade out for his more expensive ones.
I hope that there are some replacement drugs he can use.

Also check with your doctor and see if they can give you samples to take. Every drs. office has a sample closet. The dr. I go gives them out all the time. I have walked out of there with a big grocery sack full of meds.
