Default Gene therapy cures bubble boy disease

This is just amazing. The fact that we've come to an age where we can fix genetic defects is a testament to the awesome power of human innovation.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

That is amazing. It is fascinating to see some of the things they can cure or how far they have come with some health problems.

I seen earlier this morning on the news that a man no longer showed symptoms or had HIV in his blood after receiving a stem cell transplant to treat his leukemia. The doctors were doing a stem cell transplant to help with his leukemia but had specifically chosen a donor that had a natural gene mutation that showed resistance to HIV....and so far two years later he still appears to be HIV free. That just amazed me.
