Default Seasonal allergies got me down

How do you handle your allergies?

Mine have me up in arms. I'm itchy (skin, throat, eyes, nose, mouth)
I'm congested. My eyes are watering. I have a headache. I'm foggy in thought and slow. I'm tired. I just want to crawl back into bed.

I've taken my allergy med ( Zyrtec), an expectorant ( mucinex), and decongestant( Sudafed). I've washed from head to toe. I don't know what else to do except suffer

I am also suffering badly and nothing seems to work. I live in florida and suffer just about year round from allergies.I have heard the netti pot works but keep forgetting to go out and buy it.It's suppose to wash out your nose and helps to prevent sinus infections and allergies.I have to go out and buy one already.

Get yourself some local honey and have some on toast every morning. It's like a vaccine, you have the honey and pollen in your body and blood stream, and you don't react to the outside seasonal allergies as much.

My dad takes bee pollen every morning instead of honey, and it works just as well - just not as sweet! The bee pollen will also help stop infections.

Does it help if it is tree pollen you are allergic to?

I use Loratadine (Clairitin(SP). I have heard good things about honey as well but haven't tried it. Since the meds work. It takes a few days of taking the meds for them to fully take effect.

    .

Yes, bees get more pollen and honey from trees than they do from flowers (and you get more allergies from trees than flowers too!)

Even with my allergy/asthsma meds I'm sneezing like crazy too. I haven't done it lately but a nasal saline flush helps me. It takes some getting use to but the results are worth it.

My allergies are horrible this season. I have had so many issues already. I take Loratadine too (Claritin) and I carry an inhaler to use if they're really bad. I use the inhaler when I'm around dogs more than for seasonal allergies though.

Sorry you're suffering so much. I hope you find something that helps give you some relief

My sinuses are going bonkers also. Runny nose, watering eyes, coughing nonstop.
I raked leaved yesterday from my flowerbeds and now I'm really paying the price.
I want to check out the netti pot. I hope you all feel better soon.
    Best Wishes,
    Sue

Same here. I am just glad I am not alone in this. DH asked if I was okay and I reminded him we go through this every spring. I just try to grin and bear it (while taking meds of course -lol). Mine only last a few weeks at this level of agony then it is just annoying.

Just an FYI, take your prescription allergy meds in the evening. that way it's all through your system when you wake up. Wash in the evening before bed. Don't hang your sheets outside. I knew about the honey, but didn't know about the bee pollen. Trees kill me every spring. Especially the oaks, ugh.
Where is bee pollen found please? Health food stores?

I take local honey twice daily. It seems to help except for a sinus headache.
