Default Just wanted to share some good news(long)

Some of you may have noticed I haven't been in the Village as much lately. A lot of that has to do with some changes that have been going on around here, the two big ones are Jack retiring and having this dog of ours who loves to walk. Much of my time is now spent walking the dog with Jack, lol. Sometimes as much as 6 miles in the morning and 2.2 in the afternoon. Average is about 4 in am & 2.2 in afternoon. I had blood work done earlier in the week and went for my yearly check up yesterday. I've lost 10 lbs since my last visit in Nov (weight doesn't come off as easily as it did when I was younger, major bummer) but I'm healthier, stronger & things do fit better with less jiggle so that helps me keep on plugging along. Well anyways I am thrilled to tell you the doc has taken me completely off meds for my triglycerides (was taking a pill2x a day) and has cut my b/p meds in half. If you knew what my triglycerides #'s were..this is major. So glad I have a dog & a hubby to walk with. Doc was thrilled as he loves to see people make good changes and take them off meds. Woohoo! I go back in 6mo. and hope he can take me off of the rest. If not that's ok too. Just wanted to share & maybe even motivate someone else to get a dog lol & walk walk walk.

That is great! I love to walk, too, but don't put in nearly as many miles as you are these days! I bet your energy level will go up, too.

Oh Darlene,I am so incredibly pleased for you. I am on much the same journey but haven't reached your place yet. I hope that some day to get taken off all the meds too. I veiw it as "temporarily setting back the clock". Just think of all the money you'll save on meds and the xtra years you may have gained. Your my new role model. (AT least til I get distracted by something else lol)

This is wonderful news, Darlene! I'm so happy for you and even happier for your health!

It's amazing the difference the mere act of walking can make in a persons health. So many people write it off and say, "Eh, it's just walking...how much of a difference can it make?" A lot!

Keep up the good work, Darlene! I'm also so glad you are hubby are enjoying your time together!

Glad to hear you are doing so well!
I'm on the journey right behind you. You have motivated me to keep going but as for getting the dog, well I don't think that will set too well with all the cats, so I'll be walking, But pretending I have a dog! lol.
Keep up the good work, and so glad you are off the medicines, enjoying time with your DH and loving that rescued dog!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I am glad you are enjoying the time with your hubby. I think I need to get a dog if that helps getting myself off of some meds and lose weight. Keep on keeping on.
