Anyone else dairy, wheat, and sugar intolerant?!
I just found this out and I'm still not sure how to go about eliminating all of this from my diet. I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with all three intolerances at once?
I've ordered some books from Amazon and hope they get here soon!

I'm only dairy intolerant, but I do feel your pain. I found this really great milk-free cookbook that you should check out. I got mine on Amazon.ca for pretty cheap:
The Milk-Free Kitchen by Beth Kidder
I still make recipes with dairy in them, but I always have Lactase enzyme pills next to me since the more dairy I eat, the worse it tends to get for me.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I am not thankfully, but I do know that people with dairy intolerances sometimes are helped by putting more fruit in their diets. Do a search on digestive enzymes.

I have found that my local health food store is great . I have a long list of food intolerances . they are very good at finding out what is in their items and help point you in the right direction for items you can use.

Thanks for the info. I'm really not sure where to start, but I am eager to start feeling better.
I'll have to search out the health food store and see what I can find out there.
What a journey this is going to be!!

We're a household of dairy and wheat free. . . not sugar free though. . . check out celiac disease sites for info, as many who are wheat/gluten intolerant are also dairy intolerant.

I was going to suggest the celiac stuff. I have a friend who can't have gluten. She can use raw milk though. She uses agave syrup or honey instead of sugar most of the time.
You also might want to look into stevia. It is a natural sweetner.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

We have 3 milk allergic and 1 wheat allergic in this house (we also deal with peanut, shellfish, preservative, artificial colors...). It really isn't that hard once you start looking at what you CAN eat instead of what you canNOT eat.
I suggest that you do NOT run out and try to find substitutes for all your missing milk and wheat products. At the start of the diet, you are not going to like them and they are going to be expensive. They will never taste like your old favorites and often pack MORE calories.
Instead start with a simple meal plan. My favorite is to have a meat, a carb, a green veggie/salad and a colored veggie/fruit at the meal. Once you get into that kind of routine and meal making is not hard, you can then try out some subs and not be overwhelmed or stressed.

I have sensitivities to all of those items you listed. My diet consists mainly of fresh fruit and veggies, fish and poultry. At least grocery shopping is quite simple, as you stick to only a few areas of the store. I second honey as a sweetener, and most health food stores have dairy substitutes.

Thankfully I don't have this.......or don't know it, if I do.
Good luck though knitmom.......take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing. What a bummer!
