Swine flu?
We think the kids and I have swine flu.
DH is also not feeling great.
It's been going around Calgary and last week, DS10's teacher said that half of the school had been out sick. She had 2/6 kids in her class on Wednesday because of it.
I've been sick for about a month now. I've had this really bad cough, congestion, stuffy nose, exhaustion, aches and pain, etc. DS10 and DS5 both had fevers and DS10 has a lack of appetite. DS5 also has pain in his extremities, which we thought was due to a fall on his bed Friday night. He's been complaining about being cold, but his fever has been above normal (at around 38C... normal is 37.1 and below).
DH is trying to formulate a plan of action, but we're unsure of what that plan is yet. If we go to the hospital's ER, we'll be there all day. If we go to the walk-in clinic, they'll end up quaranteening the entire place.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Call the clinic before you go and ask them what you should do.

Call your GP, local health clinic, National Health Service hotline (if you have one). They likely have procedures in place and will have advice for you to follow.

So I ended up going to the doctor and they gave me Cortridin syrup and a Symbicort inhaler to help with my breathing. DS10 seems to be getting better, so I think he had the normal flu. However, DS5 is still experiencing leg pains and now, a cough. DS5 fell wrong on his bed Friday night and we took him to the hospital Saturday. They told us that his pain should be gone in his neck in the next two days.
Today, DS5 woke up unable to walk right.
DH took him to the Children's Hospital and now I'm waiting to hear what he has to tell me after they get done.
DS5 was born with a severe case of jaundice that may have a side effect of his legs bothering him, but we hadn't seen that until he had fallen flat on his back Friday night on his toddler bed. He's also been experiencing sharp knee pains when riding his bike, but those pains started before this last incident.
We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Hope everyone starts feeling better soon. DS5's leg pains could be a growth spurt too. My son (the 5 year old) gets severe leg pains every few months, and when I told the doctor, he said to measure him, when he starts complaining. Then give him a week and measure him again. If he's grown at all, then it is nothing to worry about. If he isn't growing noticibly then the dr said he would look into it.
Sure enough, I tried it a few months ago, and DS grew almost 2 inches in a week! No wonder his body was revolting! So, I'm thinking it could be unrelated to the fall or the flu.
Or maybe it just could be body aches from the flu!
Drink lots of fluids and try to rest up!

Glad to see your all feeling better. My dd10 had the Swine Flu the beginning of June and it was quite scary especially since she is a bad asthmatic but she recovered and is perfectly healthy now. Amazingly none of the rest of us got it . We sent my dd13 to a friends house for 4 days because she has a heart condition and the dr. was quite concerned about her getting it. I cant believe I didnt get it since I was her "nurse" the whole time she was sick . We kept her in my bed with me and my dh slept on the pullout sofa to keep his exposure down. As far as the leg pains go though Momtotwoboyz is right about the growing pains . My dd10 gets them occasionally as well and there is always a growing spurt . DH says he remembers having them as a kid to. Again glad to hear your all feeling better.
