Infected tooth
My back molar broke off and now it's infected. Of course over the weekend there isn't a dr or a dentist to be found. I have been taking 800mg of MOtrin over the weekend to get me through til the dr or dentist is in. Anybody know of anything I can do until then? I know the dentistis going to say call the dr or go to the E.R and when the infection is cleared up then call for an appointment. I suppose the woman that gives me all the grief in the drs office will be there today and I'll get nowhere.I don't have insurance and she treats me like crap. I'm not really in the mood for that as you can well imagine. I don't want to go to the E.R since I haven't any insurance and then they'll tell me the same thing. I know I have to go to a dentist. (That's what they told me the last time I an infected tooth. I'm not a complete idiot DER!) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All my dentists have always written Rx for antibiotics for tooth issues. Is there a reason this one won't?

I'll be a new patient since my dentist isn't practicing anymore and the waiting list is at least a month long. So they have your family dr. give you something for the infection instead of making you wait. Sounds stupid I know. I think they've been burnt by people not paying their bills when something like this comes up. I'm waiting for the drs office to call back.

I hope you get some kind of attention for that tooth. That is an awful pain and even a dentist would give a script out to get rid of the infection before they would pull a tooth. I know that some of the office girls are real pips and the doctor has no idea how they are treating his patients. My husband tells the doctor right up front if he has problems with the girls in the office. Best of luck and I hope you get help.

I used to work in a Dr. office. It was not at all unusual to give people a prescription for an antibiotic, for a tooth.
If she gives you grief, ask to speak to the office manager!

I would gargle with peroxide whenever you can or gargle w/tea tree oil they both kill infections.

I got soe antibiotics and have been using peroxide. Hopefully it doesn't take long to kick in. I spoke to the other nurse that's in the office about the receptionist and they try and keep her away from e. I have no clue what I ever did to make her act that way. Even the other girls can't figure it out. She treat my husband fine and even lets him pay later but tells me I have to have the entire office bill paid up front, which is roughly 150 bucks. He has insurance I don't is the only difference and he can't stand her.

I'm sorry you're in pain there. My daughter's friend just had to have her tooth pulled because her parents could not afford a root canal. And they have dental insurance but it doesn't cover much. Sad thing to see a teenager lose a molar over something like lack of money to get it fixed properly.
