Default I had the swine flu!!!

Well, its "likely". My Dr said I definitely had some type of viral influenza and based on the symptoms I presented, it was "highly likely" that it was H1N1. However, because it was a mild case and had pretty much already run its course (I didn't go the dr right away) that she wasn't too concerned about sending me to the hospital for a blood test.

I've been in bed off and on for the last two weeks and I'm just starting to feel human again....UGH.

It wasn't fun, but with eating well, taking vitamins and getting lots of rest, it really wasn't all that bad. Take care of yourself peeps and keep WASHING YOUR HANDS!!!

My DD had it (or at least that's what the clinic thinks it was) ~ she was sick for about 2 weeks, too. It was going around the museum where she works and quite a bit of the staff were sick.

    Glad you're on the mend!

    Thanks everyone.

It wasn't horrible, but it was definitely not like anything I'd ever had before. It started as a nasty cold, but I had absolutely NO energy what so ever. I could tell it had settled in my chest because I started having a hacking cough that just wasn't productive. This lead to several asthma attacks (which were scary, one of which almost sent me to the ER).

I had some mild body aches and very low grade fevers. But it was just mostly like an upper respitory infection from he!!

The worst part is the secondary sinus infection that I developed. I'm now on heavy duty antibiotics for that and I'm finally feeling better.

ETA: my husband had bronchitis about two weeks before I got sick and looking back we think he probably had the swine flu as well. I should mention that while he did wheeze a bit, he does not have asthma (like I do) and he did not have any scary breething issues at all. Just a nasty cough and a few wheezes.

So glad to hear that you are both on the positive side of healing!! Please don't stop taking good care of yourselves - no relapses please.

Handwashing is the way of life in our preschool. Everytime (it seems) they turn around, there is handwashing going on!!

    Glad you're feeling better!

I think one of the most important things to do is STAY HOME when you're sick....where I work we have too many people who think they're "indispensible" and the world will come to a screeching halt if they miss a day of work...and what happens? The rest of us get sick and overall productivity suffers bigtime! All because they don't have enough common sense to take a day of sick leave. GRRRRR.....! Had two really bad bouts of the flu, one in February, the other in May, where I was sicker than a dog for a week both times, courtesy of these mental midgets. (Sorry for the rant, this is a particular pet peeve of mine as I'm sure you can see!)

At my workplace they just installed hand sanitizers at each of the elevator banks. I have really sensitive skin and don't normally use hand sanitizers because I find them too drying/irritating. I'm afraid there will be a lot of pressure to use them now. In theory, I think what they're doing is a great idea but at the same time I'm thinking I could be seeing my dermatologist a bit more as a result.

I hardly left the house at all last week, and even though I'm no longer contagious, I've also cancelled all of my committments for this week (just in case the boys have it).
