    Default Anyone dealing with ragweed

OMG, is it like horrible this year or what? I have had this allergy since I can remember but it's kicking my butt this season. I had to turn the air back on because the windows open was making it worse. Still no improvement.

I feel like I got ran over by a truck, twice. My head feels like a 16 pound bowling ball, all I do is sneeze 80 times a day and blow my nose and I am ready to scratch my eyes out! I'm sure my eyes look like I have done some drugs. lol It makes me feel drained. I've only slepted for four hours tonight and I hope I can get a couple more in.

I guess I better gets some meds but I hate taking these. I am so ready for the weather to freeze these suckers. Some years are mild and I can deal, but not this season so far!

    Any tips?

Very bad for me too. lots of people have went to the doctor from it around here. Also think I'm having a reaction to mold spores more strongly right now.

If I keep on feeling this bad and I don't find comfort from over the counter meds, I will go see my doc. I'm sure he won't be surprised as I don't want this to turn into a sinus infection.

    It also changes my appetite.

    YES!!
I forgot to take my (prescription) Zyrtec ONCE! That was enough for me. Running/itchy eyes, sneezing to beat the band, ears so itchy I wanted to stick a wire brush in them lol.

The Zyrtec makes it bearable. I still sneeze a little bit (about 5-10x/day vs 100+x/day) but the itchy eyes & ears are gone. Itchy nose, gone. I don't know how I survived without it all these years!

I don't know if it's ragweed, but I am absolutely miserable this year. The kids are bad too. My nose is so sore, I want to cut it off. I've been thinking about this neti-pot thing. I'm scared I'll drown or get water in my ears, but I'm almost desperate enough to try. Medication does nothing for me, but when things are unbearable I'll take enough benadryl to knock me out. Not an option on weekdays though.

I have heard allergies are really bad this year. I have never been allergic or had an allergic reaction to anything before. Now, about a month ago, I've been waking up in the morning all stuffed up and my eyes are practically stuck shut. I have no idea what I would be allergic to. I started taking Benadryl at night and it helps a lot.

I have a severe allergy to Ragweed(throat swelling). These are the things to remember.
    1. Peek pollen is morning and evening.
    2. Run air conditioner in the home do not open windows.
    3. Run air conditioner in the car. Make sure it is set to recurculate the air in the car and not to pull air from out side.(you would not believe the amount of pollen that comes in a car while driving.
    4. If you or the person you sleep with has spent time out side shower.
do not go to bed with the pollen.
    5. Avoid these foods as they can and will make your symptoms worse.
    tomatoes, potatoes,eggplant, cantalope, muskmelon, watermelon.
I hope that this will help you .

Zyrtec does help me a ton. I know about the itchy ears. I put a Q-tip down them just to scratch them! My eyes water so bad that I have put makeup on about twice in a couple of weeks.

Do you live some where in the midwest/southern part? It could be ragweed. It's nortious from August to around the first frost. I don't even think a neti pot will work for me now.

At my allergist office there are lists of foods that are posted during pollen seasons. Certain foods for trees, grass and weed and ragweed.
the protiens(or something inthem ) in these foods are very simialer to the pollens and they cause a cross reaction. as the body will see them as the pollens. thus making your symptoms worse during this time. I am not good at explaining things clearly sometimes , but this takes place (I think) at a cellular level.

Yes, I have to avoid those foods as well. Makes for interesting healthy eating when I can't eat most fruits and some vegetables.

My dh's allergies are really bad this year. He started developing them 4 years ago. He takes Allegra-D and it seems to work good during the day for him. At night, he uses a C-PAP for his sleep apnea, but when he has allergies, his nose closes up and he can't breathe thru his nose. So, then he can't use his C-PAP. He went to the Dr and they gave him a shot (maybe steriods-dh didn't know what it was called) and it's better at night, but he still takes the Allegra-D.

Yep, my allergies this fall are just kicking my butt.......if I could just take my eyeballs out and WASH THEM!! Haven't been sneezing as bad as in the spring but have only had my contacts on ONE TIME in a month! Can't wear them.....they get so 'gunked up' I can't see!

We are having wind today.....and that makes it soooooooo much worse.

I take OTC and can only take benedryl at night as it knocks me out but palooka......the neti pot will 'help'.....give it a shot. I have been using mine, sometimes, twice a day. At this point, I will take any help I can get.........now if I could just find an 'eyeball washer'!!
