Arthrogram/MRI Exam
Ok so a few weeks back when I went to see my doctor, I asked for my appointment slip for the MRI (which is today). I couldn't remember if and when the appointment was, so they printed me out the paper.
I look on it and I discovered why I had two exams:
One for an arthrogram.
One for an MRI.
I don't mind the MRI, but I was curious about the arthrogram. OMG! I should have never let curiosity get away from me. Now I remember...
I get this giant needle stuck into my shoulder and dye injected into my joint for the arthrogram. I hate big needles like that.
Now I just want to hide in the corner. The last time I had one done, I was positioned on the table like Jesus on a cross. The tech injected the dye into my shoulder, nicked the shoulder bone and I punched the tech on the other side of the table. Now it's been about 10 years since I had it done, and it's at a different facility. Still, I'm all freaked out about it.
As far as old MRI films goes, I couldn't even get those. They're sitting in North Carolina somewheres and I can't get them at all. I tried calling numerous times for them but with no luck. I figure I'll take my medical record with me anyways. If they want my MRI films, they can call UNC Chapel Hill themselves.
I told DH I'd be soothing myself with a $2.99 Blizzard after all of this is done. I feel like such a baby about this.

I'm a big baby too when it comes to medical procedures involving needles. Take care and enjoy that blizzard! I'll keep good thoughts about you today. Post when you're feeling better. *hugs*

So it didn't go as bad as I thought it would. I have a headache and some soreness, but that's about it. They gave me local anesthetic to help out but that's the part that hurt the worst. I actually got to see an x-ray of my shoulder post-op and it looks wicked because you can see where they shaved a bunch of collarbone off near my shoulder.
They were ok with not having the MRIs because they were done so long ago and were understanding about them being in another country.
I was in and out with some pretty good time. My doc should get my films soon and then I'll hear back in about a week about it.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

Good deal. Glad everything went smoothly and you are recovering well. Now get some rest and heal.

I'm with you MTTB........I HATE needles. Can't even watch them draw blood.
