    Default I'm sick...

    I think I have the Flu...this is terrible. It started on Friday right after my boss left. I started feeling shitty. Went into work yesterday and begged to leave early...he said yeah. But I have to go in today he said. Today I feel worse than yesterday. My fever is at 102 and the tylonal makes it go down but in an hour we check it again and its back up. I do not have the strength to make cakes today...

    Please send good vibes my way today...I work the next 8 days in a row. I was excited about the over time and now I don't want it! (but I have to do it, the one girl is on vaca)

    I'm sorry you're feeling so badly - I know how horrible the flu is. I know you need the income and your boss is depending on you, but it's a bad idea to go to work sick. You're not giving your body a chance to recover PLUS- you're going to infect others. It really *isses me off to no end when I end up sick because someone else comes to work sick out of a feeling of obligation or duty. Your place of business REALLY WILL survive without you for a few days until you recover. Trust me on that. And if you receive negative repercussions from being gone for a legitimate reason such as the flu, that's nowhere where I'd want to work.

    I'm not trying to be mean or antagonistic, I really am on your side but do not go to work as sick as you are. It's not good for you.

    You are no longer contagious when its been 24 hours after your fever subsides.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference
    .

    Feel better. Your boss should meet the health Dept. No one wants you dealing w/ their food when your ill. You have the right to stay home when your that sick.

    You work in food preparation. You should not be working.

    Feel better soon!
    If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

    Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

    Contagious or not I agree with OP's, stay away from food. What does your boss want you to do? pass out into a cake in front of the customers. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs and prayers.

    Well OT is a good thing, right ?
    If you have snow where you are, then being inside working, is a good thing. Just think of all the bills you can get paid off.

    I understand where you are coming from. When I worked in food service, you basically were not allowed to be sick. They wanted you there, no ands ifs or buts. I was rarely sick but when I was, I was. Got me no brownie points at all to call in sick.

    When I work and i don't want to I do like this. Ooh 2 hours in I can pay half of this, Ooh 5 hours in I have enough for.. It always helps to tie it to something. I also count. No I don't have OCD (i think). 4 cupcakes finished. 1/4 done. 8 cupcakes finished, 1/2 way done w/ the order. It's a distration technique. Nothing more,nothing less.
    Also try. This time tomorrow ... project. It helps w/ things like dental cleanings and such.

    I can't believe your boss lets you work in the food industry while you are sick.

    I hope you feel better soon!

    ok, I'll ask this. Have you tried something other than Tylenol? When I come down wth the flu like symtoms I take Coricidin HBP to make it through the day and then hit the hay early and sleep as late as possible.

    I hope your feeling better soon. I don't get overtime anymore, but I remember how awesome it was.
