Canada OK's Caffeine for Non-Cola Soft Drinks
Not sure how many of you were aware of caffeine being in non-cola drinks? This article was interesting to read but at the end of the article, I can see why Health Canada has allowed it. Touche.

Thanks for the heads up. I hope they don't go messing with existing pop flavours, and just put it in new ones. How will you know if you get a fountain pop at a restaurant if it has caffeine in it? I can't handle any past mid afternoon.

Guess it's time to switch back to good ol' juice and carbonated water!
However, they are right, it IS parents' responsibility to monitor how much caffeine a child takes in. HOWEVER! How are we to know if it isn't labelled?
I think concerned parents should request that it be mandatory to put how much caffeine they are putting into their beverages. If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and

I'm not really concerned about my kids, they don't drink pop, but I would like to know what I'm drinking.
Are they going to start sticking it in sprite & gingerale? What about flavours like orange and grape that are marketed for children?
I guess I don't really understand the point of starting to put caffeine in something that never had it before. If it's just so they can make new caffeine drinks that are clear, I don't care. I just don't want to get a 7up with my dinner some night and then be laying in bed at 3AM wondering why I can't sleep.

I know - I was wondering that myself...what is their definition of 'non-cola' drinks. Juice, non carbonated etc? I mean orange drink, fruit punch...did those ever have it in them? What about those lil mini bottles of pop - chubby soda?
Found this article not sure if hellps much but we can keep researching this. If you find any other interesting articles, by all means, post them here so we can better educate ourselves!
In general - can't assume - clear pop - sprite, 7 up and ginger ale are caffeine free. Unfortunately I don't have any on hand to see if their label indicates this.
I found this from the Coca-Cola website - it lists nutritional info and ingredients.
I guess our main job is to read ingredients and base our decision that.2012: The Year Of The Purge!
