Dr. found a lump.
My routine physical, ended up anything but!
The dr. found a lump on the right breast. Due to chance I have a mammogram tomorrow and an ultrasound. Dh isn't worried, he feels relaxed about it, his instinct is i'm like my mom, fibrocystic breast tissue.
I however am not so optimistic! It's not a small lump! not a pea anyway. Since Friday i have searched for it. It was hard to find, but I did find it. It is the size of a hazelnut.
That said, the dr first question was did I ever have mastitis. I'm not sure. I know i had issues at one point and we didn't nurse on that side anymore, it burned. She told me I am to schedule yearly exams with her, so she can monitor any changes, even if it's an intern, that I am to insist she do it.
Does that mean she doesn't feel it's bad?
For the techs here, on the requisite, it says thickened and hard tissues at 12 o'clock(LOL), near areola. Does that mean lump? or just denser than the rest?
I don't think i'll be told results tomorrow, as this is just an imaging place, not a clinic. But they are doing both ultrasound and mammogram the same appointment.
This is freaking me out! Dh tells me to relax, my mom and her 12 sisters have never had BC, my grandma and her 6 sisters never had BC, and from the best of our knowledge none of my 30 female cousins have had it either.
Mom discovered at lump at 28. She was diagnosed with fibrocystic breast tissue. She goes yearly, but has no cancer, she is 65 this year.
I don't smoke until just a couple years ago, I've always been ideal weight, I don't drink or do drugs.
Dh is telling me to relax, i'm not in the risk group, genetics in this case are in my favor. Only 1 case of cancer, but when you smoke 3 packs a day your whole life, work with caustic chemicals(now banned) you can expect it.
I just can't shake the feeling of doom.....

So sorry that this is on your plate right now. I know that your family wants to be positive and supportive - telling a woman not to worry doesn't work too well - after all, the bodies involved are ours!! Glad you are having the tests done tomorrow. Then you will have facts to deal with.
Know it won't be easy, just wanted to share what I have done when confronted with similar situations.....I ask myself if there is anything at all that I could be doing about the situation. If the answer is yes, then I had better get going. If no, then I need to release as much as I can of that negative energy. Then, regardless of the answer, I put it all in God's hands and pray.
Sending prayers, hugs and aloha to support you along the way. Please stay in touch with us. We all care.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I was very lucky as the Dr. told me 4 month wait. I called this morning and am in tomorrow. And the pelvic(not as worrisome) next week, that will need the obgyn appt yet. The one tomorrow bothers me. Can I do anything to help the situation? No. it is what it is, if there was anything, it's too late to fret over now. But saying it and doing it are 2 different things!!! LOL.
Dh says I worry enough for all of us. I have an 11yo that is a worrier too. We are working on that as she gives her self head aches. The kids don't know yet i have an appointment. They will know tomorrow, but just routine mommy appt. No point worrying them for nothing.

I am so glad that you are on top of this - I know it's hard not to worry, but I've been practicing giving up my worries to God and it helps for me. Whatever words for you - and then whatever works to help your 11 YO too!!

Hugs to you & praying for a benign diagnosis. Been there myself, mine was a benign lymph node and I too had mastitis. It's hard not to be scared when you have to wait a couple of days.
FYI, for everyone out there I found mine in the area next to my armpit & when I would do a self check where I would raise my arm above my head, it would disappear backwards where it couldn't be felt. Please also do a self check with your arm pressed against your side with your fingertips between your armpit and the upper side of your breast.

Relax and don't panic! There are lots of things it can be besides cancer and most of them are nothing to worry about! Just get the tests and do all necessary followups!

Did the doc order a biopsy? And if not, why not?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Well, the post went up late last night - hopefully we'll get an update soon.

Update...
There is NO lump to be found! They did the mammogram, did and redid the ultrasound, and there is nothing there! They manually checked, couldn't find it, asked me if I had found it. I showed where i had found it after my exam... Well, ends up I'm still lactating slightly, mixed with the denser tissue that is NORMAL for my age. as there is nothing, zero, nadda! and they checked hard.
YIPPPEEEE!!!!! I do a follow up yearly for an exam to be safe.
