    Talking Calling MaryCarney

You recommended something that you buy over the counter for a sleep aid and I can't remember what that was and the search is not working for me.

    Can you help me? Thanks.

I know the question was for someone else, but have you tried melatonin? Rest Easy: MIT Study Confirms Melatonin's Value As Sleep Aid Available over the counter and works very well.

I haven't and I have heard about it. Don't want to ruin my liver with Tylenol pm either. It was something else. It's just driving me crazy because I can't think of it. Starts with a D?? Maybe. I just know she works the night shift so her sleep is up and down.

    Doxylamine

Walgreens and Walmart both sell it under their own brand names
It's an old-school antihistamine - but it doesn't dry your mouth out so bad, like benadryl (all the PM-type products) and no morning hangover.

But it still works like Benadryl?

I might give it a try for my allergies. I have to take the Bena at nighttime as it just knocks me on my butt. I can take the Claritin (generic) during the day but not B.

Walmarts brand is in an orange & white box: Equate Sleep Aid Tablets Doxylamine Succinate tablets, 25mg. 32 tabs. in a box.

I fall asleep fine but when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the br I wake up too much and can't fall back to sleep. This med helps keep me sleepy enough to fall back to sleep.

I have this exact same problem off and on. Do you take it before you go to bed at night or during the night on those occasions when you find you can't go BACK to sleep? Does it leave you feeling at all groggy in the morning?

It sounds like it is similar to Unisom...........which I like for a sleep aid.

but I am going to try it for allergies.....sounds like it might be good and taken at night I would get a good nights rest too.
