I know the question was for someone else, but have you tried melatonin? Rest Easy: MIT Study Confirms Melatonin's Value As Sleep Aid Available over the counter and works very well.

Doxylamine
Walgreens and Walmart both sell it under their own brand names
It's an old-school antihistamine - but it doesn't dry your mouth out so bad, like benadryl (all the PM-type products) and no morning hangover.

Walmarts brand is in an orange & white box: Equate Sleep Aid Tablets Doxylamine Succinate tablets, 25mg. 32 tabs. in a box.
I fall asleep fine but when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the br I wake up too much and can't fall back to sleep. This med helps keep me sleepy enough to fall back to sleep.~*Darlene*~

It sounds like it is similar to Unisom...........which I like for a sleep aid.
but I am going to try it for allergies.....sounds like it might be good and taken at night I would get a good nights rest too.
