Default What do you laugh at?

In commenting on another post I found these links to laughter as a medicine and what it does. The quotes are from the 3 links listed.

Laughter is the Best Medicine: The Health Benefits of Humor
The Benefit of Laughter - How Laughter Can Reduce Stress and Increase Health
    Physical Benefits Of Laughter

"Hormones: Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline), dopamine and growth hormone. It also increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins, and neurotransmitters. Laughter increases the number of antibody-producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of T cells. All this means a stronger immune system, as well as fewer physical effects of stress. "

"Laughter is great aerobics: it provides a good workout for your midsection and your diaphragm, boosts your blood flow and increases your body's ability to use oxygen to burn off more calories (Michael Miller - University of Maryland, Baltimore)"

"Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting. All emotional sharing builds strong and lasting relationship bonds, but sharing laughter and play adds joy, vitality, and resilience. And humor is a powerful and effective way to heal resentments, disagreements, and hurts. Laughter unites people during difficult times. "

So what do you laugh at?

My sense of humor is a little twisted. I don't enjoy what I call "junk comedy", where comedians are just there to make you laugh at stupid husband/wife jokes. I like comedy that makes you think. I'm huge on guys like Bill Hicks and George Carlin. But the funniest person I know in the world is my younger brother. He can make me laugh just by telling me he tied his shoelaces. He is born to be a comedian. He tells me all the time I'm his biggest fan.

There is always something to laugh at and it often involves a dog....

I laugh at something my husband has said or done. I laugh a LOT at things Wesley has said or done. Like the day that he told me he just loved 'Reese Penises'. He makes me giggle a lot.

I laugh at the stupid things people say when they call into the water utility. Like the woman who worried about the radio waves that the tiny sending unit on her automatic meter reader emitted while she blared her t.v. in the background and was talking to us via her cell phone. She wanted to know how to comabt the waves. I wasthisclose to suggesting a tinfoil hat.

I laugh at the things my friends say and do. I laugh at Greebo just because I can. I laugh at the stupid things I say and do. I laugh at things people say that can be taken out of context inappropriately, because I am really mature like that.

    Laughter IS good medicine!!

I laugh at my kids a lot. They say and do the cutest and funniest things!

But, today I have been laughing and giggling all morning about something really stupid! I got this email from my hubby and it had a link to a website for Viagra and Cialis! Then I noticed that it had gone out to a bunch of people he NEVER would have sent it to - like his former BOSS, friends from church, etc.

Turns out someone hacked into his gmail account and sent it to everyone in his address book!! At first we were mortified and then we just couldn't stop laughing and laughing about all the people who got it and would be so confused! Still has me giggling . . .

He had to change his password and send an email to everyone apologizing and explaining what had happened.

    Nichole, I share your maturity!

I laugh at EVERYTHING! I learned early in life that you have to look for humour everywhere, even ithe most difficult circumstances.

I laugh at my dad trying to tell a joke but laughing so hard himself that he can't get the punchline out.

I laugh at a client of mine who starts every irrational, complaining rant rant with "I'm not one to say anything but..." then proceeds to talk without taking a breath for fifteen minutes.

I laugh at good standup comedy (Lady Nada, Carlin is awesome!)...I love Stephen Wright and Mitch Hedberg, among others.

I laugh at old Carol Burnett show clips, and at the old Mary Tyler Moore show.

I laugh at myself A LOT!!! It drowns out the sound of other people laughing at me!

I just always keep my eyes open for anything to make me smile and even little things can do it. Today it was the dog eating a potato chip, he was so serious happily crunching away. Crunch crunch CRUNCH Too funny.

My boyfriend and I get a good laugh every day. It's usually something silly one of us does or says that makes us burst out in uncontrollable laughter together. I do think it's good for us! (We also usually end arguments w/ laughter, which I thought was a little strange, but after reading some of those articles -- I guess it's not!)

I laugh at my cats b/c they are always doing something strange or entertaining.

My grandpa and I always have great laughs together. He tells some really bad jokes and I think they are great.

I laugh at my uncle's dry sense of humor. It's my favorite!

    I laugh at myself daily.

    I am just easily entertained.

My bf keeps me in stitches, laughing so hard. I like light sarcasm, dry humor, dark humor, physical humor (tripping, falling, etc) any stand up comedian that actively physically acts out his jokes with very exaggerated body language. Some of my favorites are Eddie Izzard, Bill Engvall, and Roland Atkinson when he did Mr. Bean. Oh Red Skelton as well, I die.

Anything sexual-innuendo-ish, particularly if it crosses boundaries. (picture the school girl covering her mouth, hanging out with friends and giggling in the locker room, that's me)

I can deal with racial, political, and religious jokes if EVERYONE in the room is someone I know isn't going to be offended. If I'm in a safe group and everyone's ok then I'm ok regardless of the topic. I don't get most political jokes though 'cause I'm not in the loop most times.

I loved Candid Camera and I like reality stuff such as bloopers too. Ok at this point I think everything makes me laugh.

I have to laugh at myself a lot.
I was checking my credit card statement online. We just paid tuition and i wanted to see if the charge went thru and if the payment showed yet. So i see a charge from a place called ( no kidding) the quickie Lickie.
My DH has been in the Bermuda Is. on business for 2 1/2 weeks. I start to get all worked up and mad. And then i notice the charge is for $15. I doubt you can get a really quickie quickie licky for that. Turns out to be a laundromat. Sheepish grin.

That is my sense of humor -circumstancially ironic??

    MrsMcDowell ... LAUGHS AT ME?

    Greebo runs away crying...
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
