ISO - treatment for raw skin from colds
I'm sick, I'm raw... and I look like I have a red mustache. What do you put on your red, raw skin on and under your nose caused by constant rubbing and wiping?
I'm a bit leary about putting anything on it because I don't want burning or irritation... but I can't take this anymore!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

My son rubs his upper lip raw every time he gets a sniffle. He is obsessive about it and will often end up bleeding. We've put vaseline on it, which helps lock out the constant moisture and seems to help. But normally we just put a bandaid across his lip, which sounds and looks bizarre, but protects his skin from the rubbing.

I use Metholatum, it's thick like chapstick and works wonders on my red, raw skin left from blowing my nose. I got it at either Walmart or Walgreen's.

Oh owie, sorry about your discomfort. How about some plain vaseline? I haven't tried it but its something I might try if I were in your predicament.
I like to use those lotion-saturated tissues like puffs plus when I have a cold so I don't rub my nose raw. But sometimes I forget and clean my glasses with one. Not recommended LOL.
Hope you feel better soon - especially your poor raw skin.“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

I agree with vasoline. Also, I would recommend the aloe/lotion embedded tissues. I know they cost more, but this is one place I totally feel the added expense is worth it. Our family has bad seasonal allergies and we live in a neighborhood that was named Sherwood Forest due to the amount of trees...hahaha, so we are constantly using tissues and I would use any "regular" ones anymore.

I use lanolin.
Helps prevent and heal. Very soothing.
I buy this brand Lansinoh® HPA® Lanolin | Lansinoh. It is found in the nursing section or the baby section.
It seems expensive but you only use a little but at a time and the tube generally doesn't expire for a few years."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

zinc oxide or destitin creamy diaper rash cream. It will soothe and get rid of the redness almost overnight. The creamy kind smells good. There is a $1 printable coupon if you google destitin.

I always start with the lotion tissues, too. It is so worth it when you're constantly blowing your nose.
After that, neosporin with the pain relief stuff in it. It's vaseline based and it will stop the burning.Use it up, Wear it out,

Vaseline. Absolutely. Re-apply constantly.

Ouch! Sorry to hear you're suffering!
What I usually do it apply unscented Aveeno or a thick moisturizing lotion after each time I wiped or blew my nose. At bed time or various times throughout the day I use zinc baby diaper cream and slather it on good and thick...I coat area well enough but don't rub it in fully and continue on about my day. I second that zinc diaper cream works wonders and quickly and does not burn when applied.
Sounds even more silly - apply the lotion before you go to blow your nose so you're not wiping your skin away just the lotion.

My vote goes for the neosporin(I use the store brand) too. I just use the regular kind right off the bat & it heals it up quick and feels so soothing. I always have some in the house ready for any kind of scrape, cut & abrasion.
Hope you are feeling better.
