Default has anyone tried p90x yet?

DH is about to start it and I was wondering if anyone else has done it. I will probably do the workouts with him but I cant really follow the nutrition part of the plan because I have trouble maintaining my weight now. I know what yall are thinking but I promise its not easy being in a house where one of us has trouble gaining wieght and one needs to lose it! I think the nutrition part of the plan is going to be tough on Dh but I think he can do it!

I just saw an infomercial on this earlier today and it looks like it would be an effective program, but it also looks like a serious commitment would be required to achieve the promised results. Please let us know how it's working for you and your DH, ok?

My friend has been doing it for a while and he's having back issues. I'm not sure if it's related to the program or his work.

He sent it to me and I haven't had the time to try it out. I'll have to download a codex for it and then burn it to DVD to be able to use it.

I have a friend who is doing it on FB and it's all she can talk about . In just three weeks time you can see a major difference in her body.

Well Dh and I did the fitness test tonight and we will officailly start tomorrow. The fitness test was brutal since we are both kind of out of shape but we did pass! Yay!

Hire someone to do all your housework for the next six weeks. That's how long it will take to recouperate from the program. Seriously, P90X is TOUGH! We have had patients needing to come in for physiotherapy after starting that program.

Here's the general rule of thumb I tell everyone starting a program: do 50% of what you THINK you can do. Trust me, you will have enough trouble walking from it tomorrow.

Ex bf tried this - its too hardcore for him...lean diet and foods he normally wouldn't (he's a very picky eater) but the average person would be fine and the exercises were difficult. Results were obtained when he was being super strict but once you stop - like all other diets/meal plans & exercises...the weight slowly comes back.

I hope you enjoy it and see results you wanted

My 26 yr old dd is doing this....she's lost 11 pounds in two weeks and she didn't really need to lose all that much...she's a nurse so fitness and nutrition are important to her.

Yeah my reason for doing it would definitely be to tone up. I'm not sure about the weight portion of it because well, I'm 5'11" and being less than 140 now is scary to me.

I did see a lot of good results from my friend's P90X experience. He was a lot more defined, but he also ate like the old days (lots of protein and good carbs). The diet is definitely a big part of it, but you also have to remember to take it easy.

I have some books that were recommended to me by a friend's girlfriend, so I can add them to the thread if anyone is interested in them.

Much like many above, I've heard nothing but good things about it. Since I've been just lazy for the last two years, I've been hesitant about doing it whole hog. They do have something known as Power 90. This was the precursor to the P90X and may be more your speed (I'm willing to send you my DVDs if you want them). One thing is if you do the P90X do what you can at the speed you can. As time goes, things will get easier and you can up it. (e.g., do 8 reps instead of 12; then in a week or two try 9 instead of 12; and so on).

But as long as you do it, then you should be fine. I believe it also asks for 60 min of workout time (which is about what you'd get a gym) 6 days a week. You may need to increase intake through the use of shakes or other mechanisms.

I love reading everyones input! We are on day 3 right now and it has been fun so far! I have been making sure to increase my protien and calorie intake i general so I dont start losing weight and Dh is following the diet pretty well. The workouts are not easy but they are not impossible either! We have both slept very well the last couple of nights!

I did it a few years ago and prefer the workouts and results I got from CLX. My Ex loved it though.

hubby and I just started this a few days ago. I have been aware of it and the results it brings for a few years because my brother is a crazy p90x dude!

But look, any good excersise program that also promotes healthy eating is a good thing.... this just so happens to be the one that dh wants to do with me - so I'm game, and my body is a "good kind of sore" right now!
