Skiin care question
So I have noticed in recent pictures that my skin is looking aged. Some spots and some wrinkles. ack! What can I do to stop it? My foundation has sunscreen in it and I rarely tan on my face, so it shouldn't be a sun issue.
So, what can I do? there are so many anti-aging products and anti-wrinkle products on the market, I don't even know where to begin picking one out. I guess I am looking for a moisturizer or night time cream to put on. But I worry about breakouts. Normally when I use a moisturizer on my face I break out. So rather than randomly chose and spend a ton of money, i thought I would ask here first. Thanks!Jennifer

My dermatologist recommends Neutragena products. They have no oil in them. They have a whole line of cleansers and moisturizers that are gentle and affordable. I use one that fades brown spots and it really works.

you can make a homemade scrub from organic lemon juice and plain white granulated sugar just mix it into a paste and rub it onto CLEAN skin gently
the acid in the lemon juice gently sloughs away the topmost layer of skin and the sugar is good for manual exfoliation, it can be kind of intense a sensation so if it's too strong at first you might want to mix the lemon juice with a little water
over time the lemon juice may fade SOME age spots and skin discoloration but I wouldn't do this more than 2-3 times a week
remember to keep it away from your eyes
and
um
if you get a little in your mouth
it's pretty yummy ;-)

use a bkng soda/cetaphil scrub once a week.
definitely use moisturizer. nothing ages a face more than dry skin and lines. use cetaphil w/ spf or purpose w/ spf. they are both noncomodogenic (sp?)
use an undereyecream.
use a tinted moisturizer (after regular has sunk in) instead of foundation. if you must use foundation, use one that is hydrating.
no powder. it defines wrinkles, etc even more.

I use baking soda and coconut oil. My dr also has some dermatology procedures in his office and they all went on about my skin.

I have used peels with huge success , along with retin-a for the past couple years.
I started out with retin-a but noticed just last year (I'm almost 46) the accumulation of sun damage from my younger years working out in the sun all day.
I noticed in bright light and sunlight my skin was looking very much like it had an orange peel texture with makeup on. Not wearing make up when I go out is sort of not an option for me although I wish it were! I truly don't like the hassle or the summertime sweating, and make up transfer onto white/light colored clothing that is inevitable.
However I have dark circles- a whole other issue I don't think there is a solution for since mine are genetic , I've had them since I was a kid...... so I wear make up and was motivated to look for something to help my skin.
What I found was sort of by accident. I was with my sis who had some cosmetic work done and the nurse suggested to her having some peels done.
Although I didn't have the finances to go that route, my curiosity led me to searching on the net for info about peels for her. I ended up finding some really informative sites about the different kinds of peels ( glycolic, lactic, tca etc) and took the plunge and ordered both a bottle of glycolic and TCA. They sent the lactic as a freebie. The whole thing including neutralizer, which you really don't have to have, water does fine, ended up costing around a little less than 75.00.
Of course, if you do decide to research this route, you'll find they recommend doing a regimen of retin-a before the peels. All this stuff can be found on the internet amazing cheap.
Some people feel comfortable doing things like this themselves, some wouldn't think of it without a doctor. So this is just me sharing info, not advising or suggesting anyone do anything :-)
Final analyis : My skin is absolutely awesome!!! It looks better than it did when I hit 40. I actually have less wrinkling and my pores have shrunk, my blackheads virtually gone off my nose, and no more orange peel look. So I'm happy with it all.
Your mileage may vary , but there it is, if you want to investigate all this further. :-) Good luck!!!Change Jar - 239.00 ~ March 18 , 2006
