    Default Points and Portion Control

So I am trying Weight Watchers. I've done every other diet known to man, but never this one. My daughter is doing it, so she is sharing the info with me. I can't reasonably make it to meetings right now, but I bought a bathroom scale on Friday, stepped on it, and oh, it got REAL!!

It's been an interesting couple of days...I feel like I have more energy, am eating lots of veggies and drinking lots of water.

    Wish me luck!!

That's the real benefit of losing weight, isn't it? Feeling GOOD!! Being able to get up and go in the morning.

    What's your goal?

I love this website as it does all the math for you as far as calories and portions go: spark people

(I would post the link but it wont let me so just add dot and com after that with no spaces between the words.)
I use it when I realize I'm on a junk food path again. It has EVERYTHING. I like the meal plans, I figure out what I already have on hand, and if I don't have something they suggest on the menu I can click that item and click "substitute" then it will bring up a list of other items with the portions and nutrition of what it was trying to give me. i.e. cup of apple slices instead of the 1 cup of grapes.

Anyhow if you join up and want some support, I'm on there as well with this same nickname.

2012 Grocery Budget Reduction Challenge- $100 a month. (down from $150) Hm, might be too low.
Electric Usage Challenge (doing well, under $70 most months)

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

I'm working on weight loss too. I'm not on Weight Watchers, just doing it on my own. But I do have to say many weight loss centers have come and gone, but Weight Watchers has been around for a very long time. From what I understand WW focuses on reality (eating right, portion control, and exercise). Other weight loss programs or products....well, does anyone else here remember a few decades ago when Tommy LaSorda (then manger of the Dodgers) did all those Slim Fast commercials? Sure he lost weight, but then he put it all back on.

Anyway, so far I am down 9 pounds. Many more to go but it's a start.

    Good luck!

I don't do weight watchers but I am on a medically supervised diet. It does take a little learning curve especially when you are feeding the whole family. Hope it all goes well for you.

    OMG!

    Okay, shameless bragging:

I have lost 5 pounds this week!

Now I know that this is just my body resetting itself based on the new way I am eating, and that it will slow down soon, but it sure is a great motivator to continue!

On the other hand, if there is ever a shortage of broccoli, it is probably my fault!

I started Weight Watchers the last week in Feb 2010 & I have lost 32 pounds. I lost the weight once before, but I guess I became too confident, because I regained it over several years. I am committed to keep it off this time. I still have a few more pounds to lose. It is going a little slower now...

Keep up the good work daughter of pearl!!

That's AMAZING! I started in Mid-March and I've lost 14 lbs. I think the system is great and while I don't starve myself, I definitely have changed my eating habits.
