    Default Hair Question

So I'm trying to let my hair grow out after having it semi-short length. It's at a very blah stage right now and usually I get boredof the 'blah' stage and want to cut it back off.

Any suggestions for a hair pick-me-up?

A small trim should help make it bouncin' and behavin' again while you grow it out.

Can you get a trim and ask the hairdresser to make long layers so your hair has 'shape'? Long layers are easier to maintain when growing hair out - less maintenance.

Is it long enough yet to use cute barrettes, clips or headbands? There's a store in every mall I've been into that sells lots of cheap hair accessories and jewelery. It's not just for teenagers.

Gosh, MrsMcDowell, I know how you feel!! I'm letting my hair grow out, too! But the weather is so HOT and it's HOT on my neck & then I'm HOT all over!!!! So the urge to cut it-is a daily struggle. I've got the hair do-dads, but then it looks ridiculous, my head plastered with them!!! Good Luck!!!

My hair is the length that is is in the picture
    <--------------------------------.

It's just blah. I don't really want highlights because I like my natural color. I'm thinking of just going and having something done. Nothing drastic but something.

CH--it's definitely long enough for barrettes, headbands, etc. but my hair falls out in clumps due to the recent baby popping out and my thyroid condition. So I always have little 'fluffs' of new hair around my forehead, temples, etc that doesn't look very polished if I use bands, bobbys, or barrettes. Thanks for the idea though!

I agree with the other posters - a small trim to get it in long layers or a highlight to add color and body. It looks good right now to me. Have you tried a head band?

This is right up my alley! I'm a hair dresser! LOL....Definitely make sure you get your trims every 6-8 weeks, it keeps the ends fresh and well kept. Is it thick or thin? If it's real thick, consider having it thinned out a little, it will feel better, behave better, and be cooler for the warmer months. I have medium length hair right now, mostly all one length and medium thickness....I have some clips and pull it up in a french twist sort of thing on the back of my head when it's hot...I get the fly aways too...A lightweight workable hairspray will keep them pushed into place...try paul mitchell's worked up...it's light weight smells amazing and does the trick...for everything else...bobby pins...they are my best friends...can be worked into almost any style because they hide away....Highlights can be done and give you a natural look if done correctly...will brighten you up for the summer months and are easy enought to get rid of come fall or winter....get a cap highlight with carmel highlights....have them pull thin pieces through.....experiment with straightening irons, hot rollers and large barreled curling irons...they are quick and easy and can give you an entirely new look. If you part your hair on one particular side usually, switch it up and part it on the other side....it will give you more volume and a change of pace....Anything else...just ask...I'll help best I can....

Only thin it out every 2-3 hair cuts....if you thin it out every time it will make it a stringy mess! LOL

If (and only if) you decide to cut it short again (not including maintenance trimmings as appropriate) I double dog dare you to do a Sinead!

This oughta help you keep it on.

You know I think you're beautiful anyways...but if you were my client I'd say throw a few layers in there and find someone who does redken shades in your area. Pick a color that is close to your own color but with a depth to it.... I'm thinking 04NB...grow out will be minimal and the shine is incredible!!!

Arrgh, don't ever thin your hair out. Bad. If you have a ton of hair, but thin textured, than I agree with the layers to change it up a bit, long that is, while it's in that in between stage and the color too. A round brush and a blow dryer would be sweet or a flat iron.

Of course Redkin shades like Frugalfoster suggested.

I should have said the same thing as Palooka....NO THINNING!!! It's interesting that Palooka and I live thousands of miles apart but can see eye to eye where hair is concerned....:-)
