anyone else on the McDougall diet?
My dr has me on it and I'm loving it. It is unprocessed, low fat, vegan. I've lost 11 pounds so far - all in the right places - and the skin is snapping up rather than sagging. I'd love to hear some recipes from those who have been there longer than I have.

I have never heard of it and your post prompted me to google it. I'm excited about it. It sounds perfect for me. I have lost 40 pounds since going vegan but have stalled out. I still want to drop anther 30. Thanks for sharing I think it's just what I needed.
In how much time did you lose 11 pounds?

I'm loosing about 2 pounds a week and have been on it about a month and 1/2. I am loving it! It is not hard. I am not missing meat at all -- eggs a little but I'm dealing with it.

Like Ann, I googled.
I don't eat meat, but no dairy will be a challenge. No coffee may be the death of me!
I looked over the 'free' site and the 12 day menu plan. I am a bit confused by the amounts of what is allowed.
There are some recipes I am just not going to eat - things that involve bread because I can't eat breads, some pasta and some rices.
Can we mix and match menu items or say, eat breakfast item 3x day?
I am VERY interested in this diet (Old Man on the other hand is looking in to Atkins -- opposites attract, right?
)
If anyone wants to be my support, I would LOVE to have one!!!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Since it is a complex carb based diet, you do need find complex carbs that you can eat. Eat the complex rices that you can, potatoes, corn...

I love the McDougall plan and have read all his books. It's really simple and I did lose weight with it. He has a message board and vegsource is full of good info too.
I ate potatoes so many ways and dropped weight fast. So opposite of low carb.
I really need to get back to his plan. I have too much dairy in my diet now. Bad.
One of my simple lunches was a corn tortilla with black beans and salsa. Orida hashbrowns that come in the square have no oil and are 60 calories. This is pretty much when I learned to love brown rice and eat a whole squash and lots of sweet potatoes.
Congrats on the weight loss. Are you doing the MWL?

I did not know it was McDougall until the dr gave me a bunch of links this week. I had questioned it in my mind because it kept popping up when I was searching for recipes. Whatever it's called, I love it and it is working -- not only on my weight but my stress too (which is why I ended up going in). After $$$$ of tests ruling out "bad" stuff, he put me on this. The only hard part for me was giving up eggs. Those are my ez, convenience foods. I can live w/o meat and have lived w/o dairy (3 allergic in this house). I'm feeling great (unlike other diets) and like the foods on this one.

Sounds very interesting! I'll have to research it some....I think I'm in the process of weeding out meat products in my life right now...just using up what I have in the freezer( I refuse to throw away good food, for a diet plan! LOL) then I'm going to incoporate more meatless, high in veggie meals into our diets. It's good for everyone, and much healthier, the whole vegan thing scares me....it's so hard to work around..but I'm sure over time...it becomes easier and a habit.

I think it's awesome that you enjoy it and it's working for you. And it sounds like you have a great doc for recommending this to you.

I would love to keep up with your progress. I was just flipping through one of his books the other day.
I hate eggs, but dairy is my downfall. I feel so much better without it and my sinuses thanks me for it, but that stuff is like crack! lol

There is more truth to that statement than most people realize. Just as a drug addict craves the very stuff that is bad for his/her body, we crave the foods that do our body the most harm. I've also read the casein (milk) and gluten for some works on the opiate receptors in the brain making drug addict like cravings. They were studying mostly hyperactive/out of control kids. What were their most eaten/craved foods -- mac/cheese, pizza w/ cheese, nuggets, ranch dip...
