Default Anybody get oily skin when entering menopause?

I had slightly oily facial skin when I was a teen. Some breakouts, not bad.

But from about age 20 to age 50, I had fairly dry facial skin, and REALLY dry in the winter. I used to flake, I was so dry.

Now, at 55, and I'm menopausal since age 51, I have gradually gone back to having the most OILY skin! Weird. No breakouts, just oily, greasy, gross---especially the T-zone.

Of course, it's summer, but I was even slightly more oily last winter, and for the last couple of years, total.

I can hardly stand to moisturize, except around the eyes, and makeup is sliding off my face in NO time. Ugh.

Anyone else have this as they got older?

I am 51 and menopausal as well! I've always had oily skin but it settled down as I grew older but in the last year or so my T-zone has gone crazy. I'm back to using products for oily skin including an oil absorbing primer, powders, etc.

A lot of women tend to have drier skin, because of the lack of estrogen. While you're still going through menopause, however, the fluctuations often cause acne and other problems. At least that was what my ob-gyn explained when I went through it. I'm post-menopausal at this point and I've ended up with rather good skin, I just throw on a little moisturizer every morning. I expect it will get drier as I age.

Me too. I was using harsh soaps and all (Ivory, Zest, lol.), and it just seemed to make it oilier.

So, last time I was at the grocery store, I bought that Neutrogena Deep Clean cream cleanser my sons used to use when they were teens. LOL! It's working. I'm less oily, but not dried out either. AFTER I bought it, WM's All You magazine had a Neutrogena cleansers coupon in it. Argh.

    My T-zone is mad-oily.

Saule, when I went through PERI-menopause (for me--age 44 thru 51), I was still very dry. It was actually after I had my very last period, that this oil slick started, LOL.

Luckily, I'm not breaking out. I used to have a zit or two when I'd have a period (like it needs to get worse, right?), but not now.

I don't know if I am menopausal (I'll be 50 in Nov), lol, but I have all of the sudden got a case of the oil-ies on each side of my nose. Waking up every morning I'm like "what's with the oil slick?" Oh well, keeps life interesting.
