    FEED ME!!!!

So for the past 2 weeks I have been making a conscious effort to eat more fruits and vegetables, drink more water and eat less meat.

But I am always hungry it seems. And if I see one more salad I'm gonna hurl.

    Not enough protien???????

You are getting plenty of protein unless you are some super athlete that works out all day.

    Add in some healthy grains.

When my Dr. put me on this vegan diet, I thought I was going to die by my next appt. He told me then to eat more healthy grains, potatoes, corn... I pack Ezekiel bread when I have to play with my band. In between sets, I will eat a piece or two.

I also make my own snack breads. I'll take any fruit that is beyond its pretty stage (usually bananas in this house) mash them, add 3 cups oatmeal, 1 cup flour, about 1-2T baking powder and enough water to make a thick batter. Drop them by spoonfuls on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake 15 min at 450. I've been meaning to try this with carrots or zucchini but haven't yet.

    Lentils/Beans are filling also.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I can also make you a hot apple pie. Or a fish filet! Or even a southern-style chicken patty.

I have done the same the past 4 months and have lost about 60 lbs. I eat lots of protein, fruits, veggies and grains. I cut out everything white. If you are hungry, trying having some string cheese. It is a nice size snack, has protein and not too many calories. Just my 2 cents...

I agree that you may not be getting enough protein.

What's in your salads Russ? Have you added any protein in it? Also have you tried healthier granola bars vs the rice krispy type with chocolate chips? Are you drinking enough water to go with the increased fibre intake? And lastly - have you tried a hot drink after your meals to help make you feel fuller?

Good on yas for trying to make a change

Cukes, tomato, cheese and sunflower seeds.

I'll try the hot drink and more water.

Hmm...Russ...maybe have a small roll/slice whole grain bread with it either with butter, pb or cheese? And add more protein to your salad, walnuts, some people like trail mix or cottage cheese. I was gonna suggest diced chicken breast, boiled eggs, tuna, l/o steak just 3oz worth Have yas trying adding a handful of washed spinach leaves w/mandarin orange sections with chicken or apple diced up with walnuts?

I find eating a salad alone does make me hungry about an hour or two later. So either plan to have more snacks through the day to support your salad only lunch OR kick up your salad to be a supermeal

    Spinach - not gonna happen.

I usually have something with the salad, but I have reduced the meat intake. So I need more filling/less fat items.

dump some beans on those salads.... kidney are my favourite.

since being veg sometimes I can "feel" that I need some more protein. A fried egg sandwich (mmmmm.....) is my "go to" quick fix. (I'm vegetarian, NOT vegan)

You could drink a protein shake or two in between meals. I'd look for ways to incorporate more non-meat types of protein. Have you tried protein bars as well?

Sadly, you aren't going to get more protein from fruit or vegetables. I'd check out something called CLA. I took it before and it worked pretty well for me. It'll reduce your hunger (and it does because I was barely hungry when I was slimming down) and burn your fat intake.

my problem is: If I'm hungry, I'm going to head straight for the junk food. So instead of just eating healthy, I'm going to wind up eating healthier and GAIN weight. Not the goal I had in mind.

I lost a pound last week and down a pound and a half so far this week but it will not continue if the hunger pangs continue.

I'll give the protein shakes a try but I also worry about the fat and calories.
