It depends upon what is causing the headache. If it is stress, turning on my Wii Gold's Gym Cardio usually takes care of it. If it doesn't, then sitting in a dark, cool room.

I also get a headache if I am not eating enough. My dr has my carrying bread right now until I figure out my diet thing.

Then there are those days that I just need a latte.

It's sounds wierd but Midol works wonders for a headache that won't quit. I use to take Excedrine with a Mountain Dew (for the caffeine) but one day I was at work & had a horrible headache & didn't have any so a co-worker gave me some Midol and it worked wonders. I bought some after that - I have even given it to my sons when they complain of a worse then normal headache & they rave about it too (of course I don't tell my teenagers what it is, lol)

Aww Russ, Maybe this will help? It helps me. Maybe get your DW to do it for you, and a massage?

depends what kind of headache it is - stress / tension - sinus- eye strain - migraines / from low or high blood sugar etc

    # 1 no matter which get off computer -turn off tvs - rest your eyes -
if you haven't eaten eat something - if you are not diabetic ( or sometimes if you are and think your low blood sugar is the cause ) a little soda as it is one of the quickest ways to get sugar into your system ( sugar is already to be digested but with juice body has to break down natural sugars first so it takes 2x as long as per a diabetic specialist MD i once spoke with for work .)

cool rag to forehead or behind neck .

if tension related with stress/ tightness back of neck or sinus related a hot shower or bath can loosen up muscles and help open sinuses.

sinus related- only thing that works for me is Advil sinus and allergy . ( not good if you have high BP though )

in general Tylenol does nothing for me i use Advil for headaches

migraines - caffeine and Advil when its actually happening and i take 1.5 mg melantonin a night to help prevent them .

i have to rest with my head elevated because lying it down hurs more- cold to top of my head as silly as it sounds and my dh bought me this great neck massager for Christmas that has got a ton of use since because it helps knead the tension out of my neck i have with tension / stress headaches and .

much more lengthy answer then expected i bet LOL

I try a lot of these.

Today it felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head. I think that's sinus. HOT shower didn't help. Cold rag didn't help.
Tylenol 3 with codeine did not help.

right now, my temple is pounding.

Does sound like sinus issues. Maybe you have a infection and need some meds. Hope you get to feeling better. I suffer with migraines.I had to get a shot last week of fentanol (sp) it was so bad. One thing that does help me. I lay flat in bed tuck your pillow under your neck and lean your head back so the pillow is supporting the neck and muscles. Make sure it's cool and dark room.

    sudafed or allegra -d

    and a benadryl for bedtime.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Try steaming your face over a pot of hot water with a towel over your head. Also eating spicy food might help clear up your sinuses. I had (what I think) was a sinus headache for months and the antibiotics they were giving me weren't helping - just made me much much worse with the side effects.

The only thing that helped was taking a week off of work and steaming my face once an hour, resting, and eating spicy food often. Oh, and mucinex d worked very well.

I used a saline solution in my nose, maybe not as good as a neti pot.

Are you feeling nauseated, sensitive to light/sound? If so, its probably a migraine. You said its pounding in your temple - that's how my migraines are. Feels like a concrete nail being driven into my temple.

Hehehehe - the big "O" might help but not appropriate for the workplace. Usually I'll try apple juice and plenty of water to push it through my body. And a nap does wonders as well.

Mostly my headaches are in the sinus b/c of the barometric pressure but my eyes never feel like they're going to pop out.
