Question Not sure what i should do....

So I have chronic migraines and complex partial seizures. The migraines I have had since high school...they've progressively worsened over the years(mainly occur now with my monthly). The seizures have been for the last 7 years but were finally diagnosed Sept 2008. I am on meds for the seizures (Lamactil)
Ok so heres my issue today :/
I have had a migraine on and off for about a week...they are really bad but I am dealing. Last night I started having mini seizures...just the "aura" part which are said to be simple partial seizures. I am wondering if I should call the Dr. I really HATE going to the Dr they never do anything for me! I do have these seizures occasionally but not usually multiple....they are generally brought on by stress. Any thoughts?

If they are brought on by stress, learn ways to deal with the stress.

When I am having a period of my stress headaches, I go to the chiropractor (soft touch kind only). That helps the tension in the shoulder, neck, head etc areas and lessons or eliminates problems. Exercise too. I love my Gold's Gym Cardio.

My new dr has put me on a vegan diet. Strange sounding but it is working. I've only had a couple of little headaches since being on it (a little over 3 months). I can't quote him but it was something like the hormones and chemicals they give the meat animals mess with some women's systems. Even hubby has noticed feeling better on this diet. It is a pain to get started but no one in house is complaining now (we get a lot of noise from my Dad and MIL who think we are going to kill ourselves and the kids). The kids are actually gaining weight!

    Sorry you're in pain!

I have migraines, but not the seizure part. I see you're on meds for the latter, but what about the migraines? I'm on Topamax, and it's worked wonders when all the others failed to do anything.

    Thank you!!

I was on Topamax made them 100 times worse! I was on something for awhile....since they've improved I went off it but it was for migraines/an anti depressant(not for depression). I can cope with the migraines right now. Was a bit concerned with the multiple seizures....feeling better now...took my meds....they pretty much stopped...all though I had 1 as I typed...lol

I haven't had a migraine in a while, but still get the auras.

Are you documenting all the activity? Might want to call the dr's office and let them know what is happening. Wish all drs. to what my dermatologist does - we have his email address and he returns questions/messages within a few hours or sooner. Would be perrfect in a situation like this.

Let us know what you decide to do - at least keep a record of what's happening please.

My situation is a little different. I have been diagnosed w/ a brain tumor for 18 yrs. (treated w/radiation). I have migraines and temporal lobe seizures. My seizures are under control , but sometimes when I am stressed or exhausted or too hot the aura breaks through. My doc has me on tegretol but he writes the RX so I can take an extra one on days I feel like I'm having extra seizure activity. Most of the time when I feel the "aura" I stop what I am doing and rest. I have learned not to push it. It's not worth having a seizure.
Maybe ask your doc if you can do this. I want to keep my seizures under control so I don't lose my driver's license.
For the migraines topomax made mine worse too. Excedrin migraine works for me.
Thank God my kids are old enough to understand if Mom has to lay on the couch.....
I hope you feel better soon.

My auras are from my seizures. I've never had the migraine auras. Nausea and severe pain but no auras.

I'm also lucky my kids are older and understand my "issues" they do hate when I say I have seizures though....think it sounds bad and people will picture me falling down

There was something on tv the other night about someone having migraines and they said that some of the medicines are causing them, they took her off and she hasnt had one since.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, but maybe it would be worth asking the Dr about? I don't know if that would affect your seizures or not. If your Dr. isn't helping you, find someone else that will. I haven't had a migraine for almost 2 years now.

i would keep a diary pf stressors and also food- artificial sweeteners are fime for some people but neurotoxic to others - i know my firbo symtpoms that are nerve related become very bad if i have more than 1 cup of say crystal light - i cant even drink diet sodas eyc.

my mom cant drink nutrasweet at all and my cousin who had seizures couldnt have it either .

My husband takes Tegretol for seizures, knock on wood, has not had one for a couple of years now.

I think the diary idea is a good one. I used to get migraines, bad ones, and finally figured out that they were triggered by missing meals/not eating for an extended period. So I made a point of eating something every six hours - at the time I was working full time and going to graduate school 4 nights a week and would skip dinner regularly. Once I started eating something on my way to school- even an unhealthy hot dog from the hole in the wall place! - the migraines stopped. Keeping a diary is what helped me figure it out - I had thought it would be chocolate or red wine or something like that.
