my cousin and his wife just lost their first pregnancy...she was 8 weeks along and found out it was ectopic...they were able to save the tube and ovaries...but give her a 20% chance of recurance..and she's devestated at the loss..but also wondering if she should have hope...everyone needs HOPE....
if you could be kind enough to share your stories, i'll send them to her tonight and hopefully we can give this young couple HOPE...they just celebrated their one year anniversary...
thanks in advance

She should have hope!!! I have friends who have had multiple sucessful pregnancies after ectopic.
I had two after tubal reversal surgery (which creates similar scarring to ectopic) - they are currently teenagers, eating me out of house and home!!

Ectopic
I also had an ectopic pregnancy. My right tube burst and I had to have it removed. I was given a 30% chance of ever getting pregnant again. 7 months later, I found out I was pregnant with my second son. It was the scariest and happiest day of my life. Just relax and it will happen if it was meant to be.

She should definitely have hope!!! I had one miscarriage followed by 2 healthy children. Then about 3 yrs after my 2nd child was born I became pregnant again. It was another miscarriage then four months later I was pregnant again! (Both while I was on the Pill!) Turns out it was a very rare ectopic. The pregnancy was actually where the tube goes into the uterus. It was not visible on any of the ultrasounds I had. My ovary began to rupture and I had to have surgery. They wound up taking over 70 percent of my right tube, why they didn't just remove it is beyond me, but they told me that my chances of having another pregnancy were very slim, at least they were if I were to conceive from an ovulation from that tube. However, since there was nothing wrong with my left tube I could still get pregnant.
Needless to say, less than a year later I was pregnant again. I'm happy to say that it was a healthy pregnancy though I did have to be monitored in the beginning to make sure that it wasn't going to be another ectopic. Once they were assurred that the embryo had attached to the uterine wall everything was just fine and I have a very active, very healthy 2 year old to prove it!
I would tell your cousin and his wife to just relax and have faith! Just because you've had one ectopic, it doesn't mean that any other pregnancies will be one. I do know that there is an increased risk, but they should definitely stay positive!! Hope this helps.
