    Default Exercise DVDs

It seems like there are so many to choose from! Which ones have you tried? Which ones had the best results? Which ones are a waste of time and money? (I just saw some pictures of my daughter's results using P90X and I'm tempted....amazing abs and she's had 4 children!)

It's a 90 day program that includes strength training, cardio, yoga, plyometrics, and stretching. Looks and sounds painful, but I'm not in very good shape right now so I guess most programs would be painful for me at first!

I went to a class and we did good old fashioned exercises. We did a warm up (aerobics); then we used small weights and on the mat doing situps; leg lifts with weights. Never got flat abs but the rest of me was in great shape. Joyce Vedral has books on lifting small weights and those are alot of the exercises that we did in our class.

I am so out of the loop as to all the new exercise DVDs etc. I started my way back to getting into shape with Angela Lansbury's exercise video and some AM Yoga exercise video. Personally I still love danacing with Richard Simmons.

Let us know what you decide to do. How about checking some out of the library to see what you like?

I'm tempted by Zumba, but there isn't anything near here, darn it. A video would work...I'll go look and see if I can find one. If I get it, I'll let you know!

I like Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds series, I have her 1 & 2 mile walk, and also her 5 mile walk. It is a good way to start exercising until you are ready for something more advanced.
I also use a Wii game called EA Active, it has a lot of different workouts at different levels, includes aerobics and strength training workouts.

I order mine from College video magazine that is mailed to me and they have a web-site.

The one's that I love the best are Kathy Smith, Cathe Friedrich, (she's tough), Gin Miller, Tracy Long, tons of The Firm series, and several of the CAI ones. (something like that) Etc. Many more that I can't think of at the moment. I have a box full of them. Several kick boxing, cardio, strength training, and The Firm is a mixture of weights with cardo that really works.

I think they are several aerobic moves that would add up to certain miles walking. A lot of people like Leslie.

the walk away the pounds series...are great for beginners. They're not so hard that you get discouraged yet they are hard enough to get your heart rate up.

You march in place and your steps equal miles. You use hand weights too.

I found that any program works as long as you do it. Its not going to do anything for you if you let it sit and get dusty.

I also recommend buying used videos/dvds on Amazon. I have gotten many VHS tapes for a few dollars a piece because no one uses VHS tapes anymore. I still have two VCR's so I was able to get a lot of tapes cheap.

The Firm videos were a big hit years ago. Again, they work great but you have to do them. Same with the Tae Bo and Zumba and all of the newer programs out there.

    Throw in some yoga too!

I had a three day program that I just kept repeating. First day was walk away the pounds (cardio), second day was The Firm, which were more weights, and the third day was yoga, to stretch me all out. I just repeated these three days. Once I got in better shape I switched up the cardio videos. I did Tae Bo for a while which was good, had a couple of kick boxing tapes and then just generic aerobics.
