Shiritaki Noodles
Anyone tried these? I saw them on sale 3/$5 at the big chain Asian market and decided to try them. This type was made of tofu
4oz serving = 2g carb
I ate the whole 8oz bag LOL
Shirataki Noodles - What Are Shirataki Noodles and Where To Get Them
Tofu Shirataki (Low Carb Pasta) by House Foods
My dad tried one pkg one day when I wasn't home. He said it smelled funny and didn't taste good. I had no idea how he prepared it or cooked it. When I did it today - he had no idea I used the other 2 pkgs of noodles for lunch (wonton soup w/noodles). It even says on pkg to rinse noodles well and boil for 2-3 mins OR nuke for 1 min to help relieve the noodles from their 'authentic aroma'
Smelled fishy! I admit I was skeptical but after preparing them as instructed to.....these turned out great and are super low carb!

I found this kinda funny too - if you know who Hungry Girl is - she's put her stamp of approval on the product...I realized that today as I opened the packages, not when I was buying them.

I don't think I have tried them. I do purchase the udon noodles that come with a sauce packet. They are pretty good.
I also buy rice noodles that I find in the ethnic aisle. They are pretty good.

Forgot to add that these are usually found in the refrigerated section by the soy products (Boca burger etc) OR in the produce section refrigerators. I found these between actual produce in the open shelf fridges.

I don't like the texture....they are rubbery. And I think they taste weird, and not worth the $$$. But, your mileage may vary.....JMO

I tried them when I was doing the HCG diet but I just could not do it. I am a big texture person and the texture was too odd for me to handle and the fish smell was horrible even though I have to admit that after rinsing it well the odor had weakened greatly. I would have probably eaten them if it was not for the texture issue though.

I eat these all the time! I don't think they smell like fish. I've tried the recipe on the package. I usually steam vegetables to eat over the top of them. Mmmm...I'll be making some today, I think.
