Psoriatic Arthritis
I have psoriasis and in my mid 20s was diagnosed as having psoriatic arthritis. I am 30 now and finding that it is getting worse. Just wondering if anyone else has this and what they do to help it? A friend of mine has gone to get me a magic bag. I have already tried a warm shower, it helped my back but not my hands.

Find a good rheumatologist - goggle and understand this form of arthritis - I've had it for over 35 years, it comes and goes. But by all means stay with a good doctor. The miracal cures, bracelets, rubs, creams, special drinks etc. don't work. Good luck, there are a lot of new and good treatments out there, but only your doctor can advise what will work for you.

The doctor said since my daughter got Psoriasis so young she was 10. Its a very high chance she will get it in her joints by her 20's. She is 15 now and already has arthritis in her knee and ankle. That stuff is painful.

i dont know if this will help you as far as rashes etc but i use emu oil and or shea butter ( pure - not mixed in with anything ) for my eczema and i thought i have read it can help with psoriasis - not a cure you really cant cure a autoimmune issue easily or at all but a treatment that may helps.
i thought you werent supposed to get psoriasis wet though ?
is it the rash or the arthritis that is the main issue.
if you google you can see how tart cherries can help with arthritic pain - i use to sip on the concentrate juice mixed in with some sprite when my fibro was really bad a few years back to help with the bone type pain - i have a co-worker who has bad arthritis in her hands i suggested it to who says it has worked miracles for her, so much so that if she forgets to bring her lunchtime dose to work she will run to a nearby health food store and get a small bottle rather than go without out . She has RA.
shea butter info - again you probably should use the 100% pure not something mixed with anything else
i get mine off ebay - if interested i can let you know which seller because once i got some i swear was just that thick white baking oil stuff ( ugh cant think of name lol ) and i was being scammed and i never bought from them again !

Yes, it is painful, and with pain comes depression. But I encourage you to make sure she is with a rhematologist. There are new drugs that will slow the progress of the disease. And I've been there done it all......home rememdies, didn't work for me. The best natural treatment for psoriasis outbreaks for me was swimming in the ocean and a dose of sunshine. Otherwise I used the prescribed lotion from the doctore (just a tiny bit clears it up quickly). I don't want to alarm you but the worse part about this form of arthritis is that it is not limited to joints, it can attack the lining of organs.....so far so good for me. I waited too long to go to a rheumatologist and my knee replacements and torn beyond repair rotator cuffs could have been prevented IF I had received proper treatment from the beginning. This is a rare form of arthritis - the golfer Phil Mickelson was diagnosed last year. Good luck and I hope to read that your daughter is on a good plan soon.

I have this too and agree its very painful. I have been told by my doctor that it is not as bad as some of the others though. As I work at a desk, it seems the pain worsens the longer I sit.
I have tried many things along the lines of advil and alieve. Both seem to help the pain after its started. Nothing seems to get rid of it completely though.
So far the very best (by Far) treatment is stretching and excercise. I have it in my knees, feet, and hands. I stretch routinely thoughout the day. As long as I do my stretches and excercise (walking on non-flat serfaces like trails) the pain is minimal. For some reason walking on pavement dosen't help. Walking on trails at my local park seems to make the pain very easy to manage for a few days.
I tried the hot shower and found that it did no real good. Sure while I was in the shower the pain would mostly go away, but it felt like it came back with a vengance after the shower.
FYI, Not sure how yours is when you are sleeing or trying to sleep. BUT...... I would wake myself up when I turned or rolled and put pressure on a joint in just the right way. I got a 4" memory foam topper and that helps greatly. Well worth the $200 from overstock over a year ago.
I hate you have this and wish you luck.total debt: $23977.09 updated 04/02/11

So I have a Drs appointment on the 16th and hope that something can be done.
I have also seriously decided that I needed to get my health under control since I am a single parent. So my goals are to get my psoriatic arthritis, psorisis, asthma, weight ( I have already lost 20lbs) eat better, cut down on coffee, and quit smoking. I have started to work on my mental health and figure I need to work on my pyhsical health. Not all at once of course other wise I will go crazy. Baby steps.
All I have to say for my arthritis is for now is thank goodness for tylenol and magic bag.2012 Challenges
