Paper and Pads
Recently, I read a post written by a women who mentioned that she used reusable and washable cloth toilet wipes. I have done research on cloth toilet wipes and have decided that I'm going to try them too. While doing research, I discovered that it is possible to buy cloth pads and some women even sew their own. You can find the pads on Amazon.com and research them them even further on Google. Also, I wanted to see if any women already use them and have any ideas or advice.
Thank you and have a good week!

I'm afraid I would give up a meal or something before I go that route. This is one convenience that I am extremely grateful for.

the reuseable pads are great. they are a lot less....ick..than i thought they would be. there's a pattern for them at >>> Many Moons pad pattern
the reuseable wipes for the toilet... I didn;t go that far....i dont thinkl...but I made reuseable wipes and a wipe "liquid" for my dd when she was an infant. The ones you buy at the grocery store made her break out terrible, even the ones claiming to be hypoallergenic and for sensitive skin. I used flannel and surged the edges. I mixed up an aloe/lotion mixture i ofund online and used that instead. Her skin was so sensitive. It worked like a charm. ANd they washed up real easy. Never needed to run out and buy any before they ran out either. Her rashing went away completely. I did the same for my next child without ever even trying the disposeable wipes. Never had a problem. That might be no different than what you are talking about, really. Depends on perspective I suppose.~~ Missy ~~

Nope, definitely not!
First, I apologize to those who are using the diva cup or cloth.
Years ago, I received a free sample of the diva cup, I tried it once & never ever again, hmmm, let's put it this way, the sink was not close enough to the toilet.
I wouldn't go to cloth, I keep wondering how to sanitize them & oh, the stain. Ok, I grossed myself out now! Sorry.
After my surgery, never need to think about this. Freedom! Oh, sorry.

I think the Diva Cup (or similar) is a much better alternative to cloth pads. There is a learning curve with the Diva Cup and I'm not sure I'd normally have put the effort in, but tampons are about $8/box here, no coupons, 25% VAT, and cloth pads are just too ick for me.
Now that I've mastered the art of the Diva, I'll never go back. Reducing the amount of waste I produce is just an added bonus to the convenience and cost savings of the Diva Cup.

From the standpoint of comfort and effectiveness, cloth wipes are wonderful. However, when we no longer had diapers to wash I did not find it economically feasible to continue with cloth wipes. Toilet paper is cheaper.
As far as pads go, you need a lot of cloth to match the absorbency of a modern commercial pad. I was soaking through them in a matter of minutes.

~Another alternative is to hook up a shower sprayer/bidet onto your toilet. The parts run about $30 or you can get a ready made for $40-60.

I didn't even know these existed until a few months ago. We'll be installing one for a cloth diaper sprayer.
But apparently people like that they save on those wet wipes and toilet paper as well as for spraying diapers.
I use cloth pads and love them. Hot water sanitizes them just fine. I'll never go back to feminine "diapers" again.~~Constance

I agree wholeheartedly (although I use a different brand, The Keeper). I have saved so much money and resources. Obviously this method isn't for everyone. But if you aren't very squeamish about (your own!) bodily fluids, then I say give it a try. I will never go back to tampons (I've been using my Keeper for 6 years).

pay for pads? heck no! just use a bar mop towel. folded in half.
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
