    Default Teas: Have you ever...?

Rose: Have you ever tried Rose Tea? Not Rosehips but actual rose petals? The ones I drink are black teas with rose petals and flavoring. Roses are supposed to have Vit. C (which is why rosehips are good for you). I've tried Rose Teas from two different tea shops and I think they have different proportions of rose petals to black tea. One you can definitely taste the rose. The other is more 'earthy' as a friend put it. There is the scent of roses but not so much the taste. (And yes, the one that's more rosey tastes the way roses smell.)

Lavender: I've seen this sold in several different places. But I like the straight lavender flowers. It's recommended for its calming effects (also good with chamomile).

I know many people use ginger teas to calm their stomachs. I also heard peppermint tea is good for colds.

I have drank lavender tea. Never tried rose tea. I would just like to say though that if you are going to make your own and buy roses, remeber that most roses from flower shops have had loads of pesticides sprayed all over them. I know this because I use to work as a floral designer for years. Most plants you buy as well also have been sprayed.

Thanks, good point about the pesticides. Although I generally buy my teas, rather than make my own, I"m sure there are others far more handy and frugal than I am.

Has anyone else heard of Mountain Mint tea? It's similar (obviously) to Peppermint and Spearment but it has a strong minty flavor. I started drinking that after finding a farmer that sells it at my local farmer's market. I've since gotten a couple of friends hooked. But I don't recall seeing it in the local grocery stores. I think I'll have to stop in my local tea shop and see if they sell it.

I tried rose tea once and it's not for me. Smelling the rose I couldn't convince my brain I wasn't drinking something on the order of bathwater. I like jasmine though.

LOL - it's not for everyone but it seems several of my friends also like it. But then, the first time I've had anything with roses in it was actually rose ice cream. So when I found rose tea, I had to try it.

Ever hear of ice wine tea. It flavored with ice wine.

I have never tried the rose tea but many other flavors. I love tea and have it every evening. Hubby can never figure out why it doesn't keep me awake due to the caffine but it actually helps me sleep!

I make this mix myself from Frontier herb teas or mountain rose teas. I use organic peppermint, organic spearmint and mint. Hope that helps. Is all organic , and fresh.

I think Mt. Mint is an actual mint, like peppermint/spearmint. lol

Oh, while I'm thinking about it: my aunt and uncle have a tea website called Empress Tea Company (EmpressTeaCompany.com). Another site I like is Cupteavity (Buy Loose Teas Online | Cupteavity).

Yes I believe you are right, that is the just plain mint that I buy. It is just labeled mint and does taste like a combination. Sorry should have clarified. I do grow different mints but not enough for all the tea I go through. I do make a combination tea though with all, it is delicious. I buy so many different ingredients and do all kinds of teas my favorite at the moment is a jasmine mix with lavender.

Cool. Sounds like an interesting combination. When the Cupteavity company had a store (as well as the website), I had them mix me up a combo of lavender and chamomile. I do have some peppermint, spearment, and mt. mint. I should experiment.

Not sure. I just found some at my local farmer's market a couple years back and tried it. I'll have to take a look at what I have on hand to see if I find any flowers in it.
