trying to cut back on cosmetics
I have very oily skin and I get tired of my makeup fading during the day. I am also getting lazy with what I apply. I don't want to wear a full face. I would honestly love to wear no makeup but when I do I look really sick and pale. I have light eyelashes so my eyes disapear if I don't wear some makeup on them
I was thinking of buying an eyelash tint kit from Sally's so I don't have to wear mascara during the day but I am wondering if it is worth the 36.00 for 40 applications (so 20 after doing both eyes). My lashes are blonde on the ends and aren't thick at all so I don't know if the tint kit would do any good.
I have just been wearing eyeliner but as it fades thru the day I go back to looking sickly. I am aso fair skinned and look washed out without blush. But like I said I feel like I am wasting my time because I get tired of reapplying it.
I also have to powder constantly because of the oiliness. I should say greasiness. GROSS.
I don't wear foudation anymore because my neck is lighter than my face and foundation only makes that more obvious.
I do work all week so I feel I need to do something to be presentable. Does anyone have any suggestion to what I can wear that will help with color but won't be a lot of work.
Thanks.

It sounds like a primer is what you need. I use one called Magix. It is made by Avon. It totally cuts down on any oil. if you use foundation etc it lasts beautifully. On bare skin it also cuts oil but also gives the skin a nice smooth look with a healthy glow.
I hear the new primer by Cover Girl works quite well but am sticking with the Magix. It is the best of all I've tried. The primer will make your blush stay also.
As far as eye lash tinting. I have never had mine done since they are dark but used to tint my moms all the time for her. Her lashes are blond and short but she still really loved the tinting because it made them dark enough to show up without mascara.
Loreal makes a product that is supposed to grow longer thicker lashes. I cant say I have longer or thicker lashes but I notice my lashes look really good and natural after applying the product.
As far as eyeliner fading~ If you use pencil liner once you are done take a small eyeshadow brush and use a eyeshadow that closely matches the eyeliner and sweep a thin line of eyeshadow over the liner. The powder will help it set and last much longer. Waterproof liquid liner sticks on like nobodys business but is a bit more tricky to apply than pencil types.
Hope this might help you a bit.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

definitely use primer. i LOVE laura mercier mineral primer. fabulous stuff!
clinique super glossy mascara is great
try wetting an eyeliner brush, dipping it in powder shadow instead of pencil liner.

unfortunately primers make me break out. The least amt of product I use on my facial skin the better. I get acne and also have seborrhic dermititis. I also have very sensitive skin. Kind of a mess

I don't think you will be impressed with the eyelash tint kit. I've had it done a couple times and it just wasn't worth the $$. It wouldn't have been worth it if it had been free.

I would try a mattifier. They work kind of like primers, but control the oiliness. None of them last 8 or 10 hours like they claim, but I have gone from blotting every hour to making it all the way to noon before I have to break out the blotting sheets.
I currently use one made by Vichy (you can get it at CVS). I used to use the one Bliss makes, but the changed the formula. I have also heard very good things about the Smashbox formula. I tried the Cosmedicine one and didn't like it. I think Murad also makes one.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06) and Oliver Andrew (5/25/12)

lori, i'd probably try attacking this from the skin care angle....oily skin can be hereditary and thus require a more diligent cleansing regimen. gentle soap and warm water, non-astringent toners, nothing alcohol based. they say we are what we eat so take a good look at your diet....what changes can you make there? more protein, less fatty foods, lots of good green leafies, and of course lots of water. and fresh air.
i quit wearing makeup about 8 years ago....i'm not exactly a beauty queen to start with so it's not like anybody really noticed! sure saves time getting ready and lots of $$ not spent on makeup products.
my skin tolerates Olay products well, but they are kinda pricey. lately i've been using an apricot scrub in the shower (the name escapes me and a scrub might be too much for your skin) and then just a light, very light, application of some ponds cold cream. at least for me, less is more!

I used to like using blotting papers to get rid of excess oil during the day, haven't bought any in a long time but they work great for absorbing oil. How about a bronzing powder to give you a bit of colour instead of foundation? I know alot of folks use it so many different ways - blush, contouring, eye shadow, or just a light dusting all over to give a bit of colour and a natural glow. You might check out some by Physiians Formula, or some designed for sensitive skin.
Some folks can get away with just a sweep of mascara and a bit of lip gloss. I have my make up routine down to 5 to 7 mins and that includes sunscreen, foundation, eye shadow, liquid eye liner, curling eyelashs, mascara, sometimes blush and either lipstick or lipgloss. If I don't wear foundation, my skin looks horrible. If I'm super pressed for time, the bonzer is a god send in lieu of foundation.....a little goes a long ways! Don't apply too much of it.CC#1: $400/1,000
