    Default Spots

So was back at the clinic with DD because she broke out in spots again. It is not chickenpox they have no idea what it is. They said if she gets 3 in a row they called it breakfest, lunch, dinner then I have to bring her back because it could mean bugs. I said but I don't have any spots. They said not to worry about it right now because they don't think that is what it is at this point. Like hell how can you tell me I might have fleas or bedbugs and not to worry about it. GRRRRRR. So today when dd is at school I am doing a massive cleaning and on the hunt just in case. I can't stop itching just thinking about. I am a cleanfreak thants to OCD and even the idea is freaking me out.

Has anyone else ever heard of children just breaking out in spots when they get colds etc?

I should also say they are not itchy at all. But I am itchy just thinking about it. You know how when people start talking about head lice and you start scratching your head. Well it is sort of like that for me right now.

Could it be an allergy? Have you changed detergents at all with your laundry? Any new pets in the house? (she wont necessarily be itchy if its a light irritation) If you post a picture that would help OR look at the spots yourself and surf the web online for matching spots. (if you like to do that sort of thing, I do.)

    Food allergy?

I'm on the food allergy line of thinking. My youngest and oldest "spots". What is annoying is that the spots don't look the same.

OOOoooo. I just remembered too - when I was around her age, I used to get weird looking heat rashes and they would end up "breaking out" (or whatever you call it). Humidity and thick/unbreathing winter clothes caused it along with synthetics in the summer.

I agree with the allergies. My oldest broke out with eczema when she was 4 months old. It did not show up in the typical "baby eczema" way but that is what the doctor called it and kept calling it no matter what we said or did. It would show up as more of a rash than anything else. Later found out it was a milk allergy.

I have not changed laundry degertant or anything. Have not introduced new foods etc. So I will keep an eye on it and if it keeps up I might have to do the take something out and then add it back in.

You don't have allergies to new foods, you have allergies to foods you've had before.

I ate shellfish a good 10-12 years before I went anaphylaxis. Same with milk but 21 years.

I would start keeping a diet diary. Anything is suspect if it was consumed withing 24 hours before any new breakout.
