    Default Omega 3 and B 12 and Vitamin D

So it has been recommended to me to talk Omega 3. But I have been looking and can't seem to find any without fish oils. Do they make them with out fish oils like a vegetarian type. I am severely allergic to fish.
Plus I should be taking B12 and a vitamin D. Plus a multi vitamin. My one doctor told me that I should be taking those. And then does anyone know about taking melatonen for sleep?

I take vitamin D and melatonin. Has your doctor recommended a dose? I take 1 5000mcg vit D tab a week. I started by taking 1 every four days but it made me jittery so I scaled back until it felt right.

Melatonin is something your body should produce naturally, to make you sleepy at night, but as we age you stop making as much. You can buy tabs in 1-3mg. Take one before bedtime on nights you don't feel sleepy. It is not a sleeping drug, it will not "knock you out", it just makes you naturally drowsy.

Flax seed has a very high amount of Omega 3. It's better to get them whole and grind them yourself, a little at a time. Flax seed oil is expensive and tastes bad, I think! If I'm remembering right, 1 Tablespoon of flax seed has over 7000 mg of omega 3s.

Also for melatonin, it's important to get sunshine during the day to make seratonin to make melatonin at night.

For Omegas - try flax seed and/or egg yolks

B12 - use a regular B complex (using isolates disrupt the balance and cause their one issues) and/or nutritional yeast (looks like fish food NOT regular or brewers yeast)

Melatonin helps if your body is needing it. It your body is not low, you will see no results. Some other sleep helps are to darken the room/house about 2 hours before bedtime. Turn off top lights and use some low output table lamps. No TV, bright clocks, computers etc in the bedroom. Blackout curtains if your street is bright or the full moon is aimed at your window.

A health food store could probably help you in your search......but they are usually more expensive for any vitamin.

Interesting on the B12........did your Dr. tell you specifically to take that??

When I was actively selling vitamins, this is one that made the portapotty list.

I take a multivitamin, calcium plus vitamin D, and 100mcg of Vitamin D daily. My doc added the separate vitamin d. Going outside to get sunshine and vitamin D and seratonin or whatever is a great idea, but if you use sunscreen, you aren't getting enough.

The "e zine" is not the authority but just a simple reprint of the story that has been in the hf circles long before ezines. Don't try to twist up things as if I am holding the ezine as some kind of authority.

Anyone knowledgeable in vitamins will know that synthetic vitamins (cheapies found in stores) are a joke. You get do get what you pay for.

Take the cheapie, a higher priced multi and an even higher priced food based vitamin. Put them each out in separate dishes. Try soaking them in various liquids - water, vinegar, soda -- see which ones you can still read the markings on and the ones that completely dissolve.

Next heat up the oven to 400. Now put them on a cookie sheet (foil line them as some will not be pretty). Which one burns like a food and which ones bubble up and ooze stinky goo? (A good vit should look like burned toast). If your vitamin bubbles, you might as well be eating a Twinkie.

I assume you're being asked to take these for your anxiety?

I give melatonin to my DS12 at night. He takes 3mg about 10 minutes before bed. He has his door closed at night and there's absolutely no light in his room. Here's a link about melatonin:

As far as the Omega 3 goes, you can find ones without fish oil in them. Flax seed is a good one that's been mentioned. Here's a link about Omega 3s without fish oil in it:

Yes Walnuts and flax seeds Sardines are good sources of Omega 3's Yogurt and green leafy veggies are also good sources of Vit D. I take omega 3's & Vit D. daily. I occasionally take melatonin when I have probs sleeping. They make you have strange dreams. I take B-12 sublingual daily it helps. Chia Seeds are high in Vit D & help U sleep but you need to grind them and put them in salads in granola bars, etc.
