    Default adenitis

    what a crappy week
i started being sick a week ago friday - fevers chills cough etc
call in sick for work monday
i go to dr monday she gives me a zpac
do a little work tuesday .

i wake up wed AM with a swollen blistery tongue - allergic reaction to zpac which stays in system for 5 days after you stop it .

back to drs taking benadryl and zantac and claritan to decrease allergic reaction .

Thursday i feel best in a while go to work come home doing paperwork that night i feel a lump on left side of my neck -by early AM its the size of a half a tennis ball= my dr has no hours on friday - i go to Er just to be safe - they say its adenitits of lymph node - due to it overworking with virus / infection its now infected.
send me home with new RX
Saturday night i actually felt good all day and i look in a mirror and realize the swelling has travelled - call MD NOT normal for adenitis watch it - i have to wake up every hour to make sure i am breathing OK take dbl benadryl i have been etc

by AM it was all the way over to the right gland .
Best way to describe it is when actors put on fake foam and makeup to make themselves look like they are like 100- 200 lbs heavier than they are and have that face puffiness they have no jawline .

has anyone ever dealt with this and have any ways to quicken the swelling decreasing . doing warm compresses - it looks awful is not something i could easily hide and i dont want to freak out my pts when i go to see them - i really dont own any turtle necks and TBH i dont think it could hide this .

dr wont gve me any prednisone to decrease the swelling because she wants me to see an allergist and wants them to see the full effect but i just cant walk around in public like this is normal !!

Hugs to you. I have no experience that is relative to what you are going through. But HUGS to you.

I've had some major swelling in my jaw and neck after oral surgeries...but it doesn't sound nearly as bad as what you are describing. I had a show (opera) after one of these and the day before the show i alternated between hot compresses with epson salts and ice...then the morning of I used copious amounts (probably more than was healthy) of Prep. H. cream and it substantially took down the swelling.

What about a fabulous neck scarf? Or if it's cold (not sure where you are), a hoodie that is zipped all the way up with the hood tightened around your face?

Wishing you luck that the swelling fades soon!!!
