Antibiotics and fever in toddlers
How long or how many doses of an antibiotics would it take to start fighting an infection and bring a fever down. My dd has taken 5 doses as of 1030 yesterday morning and her fever is back up to 39.9, which is around 103.8. She was a little warm this morning but it really came back around 4 and then about half an hour ago. I'm really worried about her I woke her to give her more tylonal. Should the antibiotics have started working by now?

It depends on the type of infection. If she has a viral infection, an antibiotic won't do any good.

Probably 24 to 48 hours to start really working.

With Wesley's last ear infections, it took about a day and a half /two days for the antibiotics to really make any difference. The doctor also gave us some ear drops that numbed the inside of the ears to prevent the pain. Wesley hated them, but they provided him a bit of relief.

How is your daughter? I hope she's feeling better.
