Default Anyone suffer from Scalp Psoriasis?

Ugh, I do! I have had this problem since I was 6 years old!! Then it was only a small patch on my scalp. The dermatologist actually did surgery on it to remove it when I was 8 (I guess he did not know what it was??) and it did remove it until 6 months after that. Now being 22, its covered my whole head and starting to go below my scalp line. My ears are also affected. Its so embarrassing and makes me so sad to no end. I have tried so many different shampoos from the dermatologist a few years back with no help, and now with no health insurance I picked up a new shampoo at the pharmacy today hoping it will help.

Its so itchy it will bleed sometimes. Ugh.

    Anyone else suffer with this?

    natural lavender is good
    30 minutes under UVB light

Also, try washing your hair with homemade soap instead of shampoo. It might help.

DS7 was born with it. We figured it would go away, but it didn't.

    My solution?

I use a good dandriff shampoo on him and I scrub the area with warm water. I rinse it really well and I do this for him at least two or three times a week.

I have it on my head, ears, belly button and legs. They randomly go away and come back in other spots.

Best thing I have found for my hair is to use the Selsun Blue medicated 2 or 3 times a week. It won't get rid of it, but it will sorta hide it until it goes away on its own.

my oldest son suffers from this as well.

I found California Baby Lavender & Tea Tree Oil Baby shampoo works well. (found it at Target)

I've not tried straight Tea Tree Oil, but that may work even better - heck, it won't hurt anything - just do it at night so you don't stink yourself up before leaving the house!!

I started using the Garnier Fructis Anti-dandruff shampoo with pyrithione zinc about a month or so ago and it has helped when some others haven't. I use it about 2-3 times a week and it stops the itching and such, but the 'scales' are still there, just not as bothersome.

Selsun blue sadly does not help Mine is always there- it never disappears because it covers my whole scalp.

I don't think its something you can cure or get rid of but more of something that you can 'tame' and help prevent flare ups.

Have you tried eating a gluten free diet? May be worth trying for a week to see if it helps.

    Hope you find some relief.

If you don't color your hair...rinse it with applecider vinegar...it smells but when it dries there is no smell...you can use it on all affected areas. I have seborrea dermatitis...it's similar..itchy flakey and can sometimes dig it til it bleeds...I get it on my face ears and scalp....I can't use the vinegar on my scalp because I color my hair but I use it on my face and ears and it clears it right up! Good luck hun! These things are sometimes more emotionally damaging than they are physically!
