~A persistent rash that isn't treatable with powder, keeping the area uncovered or diaper rash cream is probably eczema. Be sure you are using no dye/no perfume detergent on the baby's items. Here are some other tips: Eczema | BabyCenter ~

It's impossible to evaluate a rash without seeing it and knowing if there are any other symptoms. Take the kid to the doctor to have it evaluated.

You said you use powder daily. Any chance the kid has sensitive skin and the powder is the cause? Just a warning about powder on babies: If you pour it directly on the baby from the container, some of it goes into the air. The baby then breathes the powder causing lung problems.

If the kid has sensitive skin, your laundry detergent could also be the problem. But only your doctor can tell you if it's not something more serious.

I agree with taking the baby to the doctor. My oldest started developing rashes at 4 months. Got really bad by 6 months. Later we found out she was allergic to milk. She was reacting mildly because of the milk coming through the breast milk and then more strongly as solids were introduced. (Eczema was her only reaction to the milk allergy - weird but true.)

Having a rash made her more sensitive to laundry detergents and other things, so even if your baby isn't REALLY sensitive to a detergent, having the rash may make him act sensitive. I mean, if the rash wasn't there, detergent choice might not matter.

Did you powder the baby daily from birth, or is powdering a reaction to the baby having a rash? Lotions, nice fragrance free ones like Vanicream or Eucerin, can help the skin too, instead of powder.
