    Default Insanity DVD????

Anyone have/do/tried the Insanity DVDs? As winter approaches I am attempting to plan ahead for the REALLy cold days when I can't go running that sometimes run together for a bit. I know my son's cross country coach uses them with the team but I'd rather have some feedback from some real world people as oppossed to that of a high school athlete.

They'll kick your a$$. I'm in what I would consider well-above-average shape, and it's tough. I'm not a "fitness DVD" type of guy, but my wife has all of those, and more, and uses them from time to time. I tried once with her. Once. lol. I might try it again to get my cardio up, but I'm not in any rush.

Expect to take lots of breaks along the way, but don't get discouraged. I would have to imagine that it's pretty effective. If you stick with it and get through them, you'll be in GREAT shape.

Can you ask your wife if the DVDs are repetative of each other or are they fairly different?
I'm actually in pretty good shape for an overweight 40 year old smoker. I know that sounds moronic. My body is more the muscle building type than the the sleek willowy type and I enjoy stregnth training. I've been working out anywhere form about 5 to 10 hours a week for a couple of years and even being a smoker can on a good day jog 5 to 7 miles without stopping to walk. Now my time is never going to win me any prizes and there are days I can only go a mile or two and have to walk for a minute but overall I do pretty well. My weights aren't itty bitty ones either. My lightest dumbells are 25lbs. However, I have this thicker than I would like layer of fat that has refused to leave after whittling about 60 lbs off. My theory at this point being that my body has adjusted to my workouts, even though I mix it up some. I think I need an extreme change for the cardio piece. Running outdoors is harder in the winter and I figure if I can find something pretty challenging and maybe make another attempt to put the ciggeretts down again I may be able to burn this last chunk off.

If I decide they're worth it I'm going to be scouring the pawn shops, halfprice books, ect for a set. I think the price is outrageous as well.

All the DVDs are different, kinda like P90X, they target different areas.

FWIW, if you can find someone who has a set, they are difficult, but not impossible to copy. We didn't exactly pay for ours
