Default As tacky as I think?

Going to a wedding this weekend, picked up 2 different dresses at Sal. Army yesterday. #1 is navy blue with lime accents, very stylish and more 'modern', #2 is pretty but simpler and less fashionble. I prefer to wear #1, but bought #2 as a 'back up' in case I could not find things I needed to go with #1 (tights, shoes etc). I do NOT have shoes to match dress #1, unless I wear black heels....but I always felt navy+ black are NOT worn together! Am I overly picky, would you guys cringe to see black heels with a predominantly navy blue dress? Jut wondering if it's my weird thing or not...I'm not usually too fashion-savvy, though no one has nominated me for 'What not to wear' yet either!

hit Walmart today to find navy blue shoes- NONE. Wear a size 11w, so it's not like I can raid a girlfriend's closet! Live far from shopping, so probably will not get to another shoe strore before wedding.....not sure if this is my personal preference or a fashion no-no.

I've found navy shoes near impossible to find for the past few years.

~You can wear black with navy if you add in other black accessories. Do you have black pearls or a black belt, scarf or cardigan?
Unless the navy is really really really dark. Then it looks like you thought your navy item was true black and that's tacky.
Here are some examples of mixing them well:

Are the black heels plain pump style? If so, a flat bow made from navy/lime green ribbon would be cute on the instep and pull the outfit together.

I would not wear black and navy, and I would probably notice if someone else was wearing black and navy. Unless it was well thought out and deliberate like the example posted up thread. Otherwise I think it just looks like you couldn't find navy shoes.

But this probably varies by region. I grew up and lived most of my life in Connecticut, in places where fashion rules are generally known and followed. In a less rigid place, it might not matter as much.

As above, I would wear them if they were tied in with accessories/bows.

I'm seeing metallics pop up again. That could be an option.
