He's still the same weight. He hasn't been exercising and I don't really want him to until after he's healed from surgery. Surgery probably won't be until December. But since I'm not his mommy, I'll just let him do what he thinks is best.
I'm happy that he hasn't gained. It would be sad for him to have a setback after he's worked so hard. I'm worried about his health and my focus has been on him preparing for surgery and then healing afterward.

So they say curiosity killed the cat..whatever...not trying to be nosy, just wondering what type of surgery?

    Feel free not to answer.

    Again, I wish Gabe well!

    It's OK.
He has a perforated intestine. Intestinal surgery.

Great thread Sara! I've been trying to lose weight since July and only managed 7 lbs. So I'm impressed with your achievements...both you and Gabe. Hope Gabe holds out alright till surgery and beyond.

We just finsihed up the baby food stage at our house, and relied heavily on ruth yoder's Super Babyfood book. She has a recipie for a super well balanced power breakfast for babies and both my husband and I are also hooked on it as a breakfast or a lunch.

1/2 cup grains - brown rice, barley, millet, oats or quinoa, whatever you have on hand or mixed together.

Drop in 2 to 4 ounces on green pureed veggie, lately we've had a blend of kale, spinach and brussel sprouts and they are so yummy.

We had in fruit we have on hand, pears, apples, bananas, cranberry's etc.

We also add in seeds or nuts, brewer's yeast and wheatgerm.

We eat this as a breakfast or a lunch (we bulk it up with grilled veggies or veggies in general and haven't had so much as a cold in over five months.

Its a good way to use up leftover veggies and get your nutrients packed in, I totally recommend it!
That's really quite interesting. I read somewhere that Lady Gaga eats this way. Hmm, I think it was her. Maybe Jennifer Anniston? I forget.

Gabe has surgery in a few days. I gained a bit since October. Darn candy canes.

I'm waiting to hear what kind of diet he has after surgery. I am assuming it won't be normal for a while.

I have been eating clementines by the crates. LOL

27 lb loss is awesome. Congratulations. Very awesome!

I'll probably be too busy to post much in the next couple of weeks as I will be solo parenting over here. But I'll be back and will try to share more. I think it really helps when there's a group working together toward a goal.

I'll be thinking of you and Gabe, Sara. Best of luck with the surgery.

I've managed to lose 20 lbs. now since March 2011. Mostly due to this naturopath I'm seeing now. She has me on an insulin resistance diet. It seems to be doing the trick. I'm losing weight...as long as I stay off gluten and dairy. The moment I go back on them I start retaining water and gaining weight.

Thank you. I'm hoping he doesn't have any complications. It will be weird having him home during recovery. I know how cranky I was during my recovery period from shoulder surgery, so I'm hoping to just lock him in the bedroom and slide him a tray. LMAO I'm so kidding. I'm just concerned and want him to be back to his regular self as soon as possible.

That's wonderful news on your weight loss. I'm happy you're finding something that is working well for you.

It's great to finally see you in your avatar.

Thinking of Gabe as he goes through surgery . . . praying all goes well! And hang in there with the kiddos and taking care of Gabe, Sara. It's ok to slip with all you've got going on, we all do it! Clementines are full of Vitamin C and fat free, so those are great to indulge on!

I would LOVE some kind of weight loss support/encouragement thread going on here. Maybe when things slow down on your end.

I know that GaGa follows a diet for her lupus diagnosis because of a family history on her father's side (I believe her Aunt Joanne died from it). But she is also known to eat plenty of home-cooked Italian dishes (partially because when she's not on the road, she crashes on an air mattress in her parents' apartment and what she's given is what she eats).

    Just a little GaGa nerdery.

I hope Gabe's surgery goes smoothly and his recovery is pristine.

Good luck with the surgery, Gabe! I hope you make a speedy recovery.
