Angry Why am enraged all the time?

For about the past month or more I have been feeling very enraged like I was PMSing. I blow up easily and at the smallest things. When if first starting happening I thought that I was starting to PMS well my period never started and a few days went by and I started having some brownish spotting so I went to the store a bought a pregnancy test. Negative, so I wait a few days and take another one, negative. I ended up taking three test I think before I called my docters office and setting up an apt. Went to the dr and it was again negative, but she said that stress was prob my main factor in why I didn't recieve my period last month. Now I'm wondering if this enraged feeling has anything to do with my messed up hormones because its seriously starting to mess with my marriage. Family members are telling me that I need to go get some help and that they think i'm depressed. I did some research on webmd.com and it says nothing about being enraged or angery all the time as a sign of depression. I guess my next step is to go see the dr again unless anyone has any input on what maybe going on.

    Please help me!

Could you be perimenopausal? Did the doc do a hormone test on you to see if they were out of whack?

I totally understand...several years ago I had the same thing...I went to my dr told her how I was feeling, enraged, didn't like anyone or anything, didn't care to go anywhere, etc...she put me on antidepressants for a while and it did help...I didn't FEEL depressed, but it truly helped me...Good Luck...

I don't know what the problem is but can you try some simple techniques when you start to feel that way.

Just stop what you're doing, say "i'm sorry but I need a moment" and literally walk away, go outside, walk down your street and come back.

take a couple of deep breaths, try to find a happy thought.

drink a glass of water. do jumping jacks, have a piece of fruit, walk up and down the stairs a few times.

Do anything to interrupt the moment that you are in and try to break the cycle.

    Hugs!

I completely understand how you're feeling. After I had my first two children I ended up pregnant again but at almost five months along, I lost the baby. Then I had my third child, a year later got pregnant again, and lost that baby too. Ever since then I've had to fight the "rages." Yes, I was depressed but I was mad all the time. Anything would set me off...I was a mess. Now, almost a year later I'm feeling like my old self again. I guess my hormones were just too out of whack. Doctor seemed to think so. But I'd advise getting on some medication. It helped me and yes I was depressed and you're not , but it did help with those horrible feelings. I'm so glad they're gone and I know my family is too! You don't feel good about yourself and it's just plain confusing...trying to deal with the emotions. Good luck to you! I wish you the best.

Well, stress can mess with your hormones (as indicated by the missed period and the spotting) and hormones are what control your emotions. So yes, being stressed out can mess with your head and your mood.

Have any of your medications changed at all recently? Different birth control?

I agree, go have your hormone levels checked with your doctor. I'd like to suggest that you specifically ask the doctor to check you for Diabetes and how your thyroid is doing.

Yes stress makes you angry and depressed but if you don't know why you're stressed then it could be related internally. Uncontrolled sugar also leads to mood swings, anger etc.

Do you exercise? Maybe add a daily walk to your routine? Fresh air, sunlight and exercise could help de-stress you.

    As others have said.............

I would ask for the TSH test.........blood draw that checks your thyroid level...............FSH........blood draw that checks your
hormone level......for sure. They might as well do a full blood work up...........but those two are real important.

Nothing posted about your age......but I have run into people as young as mid-thirties that are/were going into menopause.

Have you had your appointment yet? If so, how did it go? Dietary changes may also help. I recently went a week without any sugar or processed foods and it made a huge difference in how I felt. I tend to be an intense Type A person, but I was so very calm. It was very surprising to me that I felt that much of a difference that quickly.

Acupuncture helps too. Find an acupuncturist who also uses good quality herbs.

I'll second that recommendation. I was very skeptical about acupuncture until I tried it. The results were astonishing.
