Since I color my hair the baking soda will not work. I will try the conditioner only this coming week.

My hair fits into this category too. If I skip a day of washing it without shampoo, it looks like greasy clumps and feels so nasty. Not a good look.

Quite likely what is happening is that your scalp is overcompensating for being washed so much. The shampoo strips the natural oils and dries the hair follicles, which then try to compensate by producing extra oil, only to have it stripped repeatedly by washing. It's a vicious cycle. You probably actually have very dry hair, despite the oil accumulating on your scalp.

My hair used to be oily but now I wash one day and blow dry it the next day.

Wash/blow-dry/fix it for the first day

Pretend I washed it but don't, not even wet it, just use the blow dryer on it as if I had. Style, brush, blow dryer, (and for me some days I like the straightening-iron look) the blow dryer keeps my hair from being the oil-next-day situation.

Sometimes I will do: wash/fix it first day, blow-dry/fix it second day, and then Pony Tail or Up-do for the third day. My hair does not like too much fussing, it looks so nice and healthy when I don't overwork it. Then when its back to the wash/fix it day it is so bouncy and fluffy.

Today I tried the conditioner only method to wash my hair. Am quite surprised with the result. I need to do some more research on the right type of conditioner to use to avoid any build-up.

And yes my hair is not as dry. Keeping my fingers crossed this will help. Would save a lot of money!

I had a sample of dry shampoo. Used it once. Went to use it again & it's plugged. Tried rinsing the cap-still not spraying. My ?.. hate to spend the $ on a can if it's going to plug on me. Has this happened to anyone who has bought a can? Thanks.

My hair gets way too greasy looking if I go without shampooing for a couple days. I have tried natural soap, Dr. Bronners, baking soda with vinegar rinse....my hair gets a residue feeling like the soap is stuck in it. I have to use shampoo.

I found a recipe somewhere on the interwebz for making your own dry shampoo....I didn't save the link, but the recipe included cornstarch, cornmeal, baking soda (I also added chamomile), and maybe one or two other ingredients. Sprinkle about a teaspoon or two in your hair (esp in the part and around the face), rub it in, then brush it out vigorously. It gets me through one more day without washing, which is a miracle since my hair tends to be very greasy
    Gratitude.

i wash mine every other day. I get lupus discoid lesions on my scalp and they itch if I go more than that without washing.
